[Abstract] We investigated how to evaluate natural and landscape values for quantitative assessment of the Kumanokodou World Heritage. The field evaluation methods are described from ecological, environmental, and socio-cultural points of view. The ecological points of view includes a description of the landscape such as forestry type (natural or a man-made, single-storied or a multi-storied, a coniferous, mixed and a broad-leaved), landscape visibility, habitats (Biotops, homogeneous or heterogeneous landscapes). The environmental perspective includes damage caused by garbage, obtrusive buildings, and poorly maintained roads. In addition, the roads create ecological splits. Sociocultured values contain historical importance, degree of lighting,landscape effectiveness, cultural elements and forms of use.

“Yanase Suiro” waterway runs through the old town in Nabari City, Mie Prefecture. The total length of it was 15 km in the old cadastral map in 1889. We conducted a field survey and confirmed that “Yanase Suiro” was left 9 km. The 2 km waterway is an underdrain, but the 7 km waterway could be divided into patterns along the road, in the fields, between houses, on the courtyards, and inside the house. We believe that the variety of waterways in the old town of Nabari city can be useful for future town development.

In this study, we analyzed the vegetation changes in the semi-arid regions of Tanzania in Africa using a normalized difference vegetation index (NDVI) and a normalized difference water index (NDWI) calculated from Terra/MODIS satellite data. NDVI and NDWI are the most widely used vegetation index. They have a relatively higher value in the wet season between November and April and represent the change and spread of land cover (vegetation coverage). From 2009 onwards, during drought conditions, the NDVI and NDWI time series have shown a gradual decrease.

The swimming motion of Tuna type fishes has excellent ability for its speed and efficiency. And some studies have been reported about the most efficient swimming motion by using numerical analysis on 2-joint bending mechanism model. And several fish type robots are developed based on these studies. But almost all robots have spring held caudal fin, so they cannot confirm theoretical result by experimental way. Therefore, we developed a fish type robot which has caudal fin angle actuating mechanism and tail oscillating mechanism. We made some experiments about the relationship between the swimming motion scheme and the swimming speed.

[Abstract] We built multi-OS environment in the PC practice room in consideration of the secure boot technology to prevent pc-user from carrying out only the software with the digital signature. In addition, we utilized various free software as possible for cost reduction and made a batch file to be convenient for users. We also take users' requests into account and solved known problems in the PC practice room.

We are working on the construction of meteor radio observation system that has the potential to help in estimating ionospheric conductivity. Prior to the future high density of the meteor radio observation network, we aim to reduce the price and size of the system. We confirmed that the conventional observation system by using a Windows PC and a general-purpose wide band receiver can be replaced with a Raspberry Pi 4 and a demodulator that supports a USB 2.0 interface. As a result, the prospect of lowering the price was established. In addition, the large Yagi antenna was replaced with a handmade small magnetic loop antenna, and the prospect of miniaturization was established.

One of the drag-reducing technics in the pipe flow is microbubble injection. However, the drag reduction effect of microbubble injection into water flows often remains unclear, including their mechanisms. In addition, there are very few reports on drag reducing effect of microbubble injection into water pipe flows. This paper describes the experimental results of water-microbubble two phase flows in a horizontal pipe. The flow was visualized by using a high-speed camera and green laser sheet light. The streamline velocity profile was measured by using PIV and LDV system. As experimental results of the friction factor and velocity profile by using PIV, the drag reducing effect of microbubble injection was not observed in this experiment. The flow characteristics were quite similar to water single phase flow in this experiment.

[Abstract] There are several institutes which use songs when teaching Japanese language. It seems, however, research on the effect of music in teaching Japanese seldom occurs. Therefore, to verify its effects, an investigation was conducted on affective strategies and memory strategies expected in the use of music (songs) at schools in which music was being used to teach Japanese language education. A questionnaire to students in Japan and South Korea was conducted to analyze the personal feelings toward Japanese study with music, and a skills test was conducted to evaluate the effectiveness of music when studying Japanese. The results of the questionnaire showed that students have a favorable impression toward the use of music teaching materials in Japanese language education, and that using music is an effective teaching method. This paper shows and considers the results of the investigation.

The alkali metal decamolybdate of ideal formura, A_2O・10MoO_3・nH_2O, form a structurally related family.[1] The complete crystal structures of two members of which, A=K, Na, have been determined.[2, 3] For both, the framework structure consists of double chains of edge-sharing MoO_6 octahedra linked by common corners which form wide (0.29nm diameter) tunnels occupied by the alkali metal ion (Fig. 1). For all these compounds the presence of wide one-dimensional tunnels suggest that there should be a rich intercalation chemistry and related properties to investigate. In this report, There are no published quantitative active energy data of decomposition available for Li and Na-decamolybdates and we present the determination of their active energies of decomposition here.

This paper considers a simulation program of a inverse pendulum control system. The motion equations of the control object are basically nonlinear forms. We apply the linear regulator theory to the linearlized motion equations, and construct a simulation program of the control system including the original control object and feedback control loop based a linear control method. It is very difficult to evaluate the control performance of such system by analytical method, so it is useful to evaluate it by simulation method like described in this paper. Although this paper is the first step to that problem, the results by the simulation program to some examples are satisfied.
