暗号の基本的な機能は守秘と認証であり,それに基づいて,ネットワークにおける情報セキュリティの基盤が構築される.このため,ネットワーク社会において暗号技術の果たす役割は極めて大きい.本講演では,このように重要な暗号技術について,その概要を述べ,ついで,今後の安心できるネットワーク社会形成のために最も重要な課題である暗号評価,長期間安全な暗号,人と暗号の調和に対するソリューションとして,暗号技術評価プロジェクトCRYPTREC,情報量的に安全な暗号システム,およびヒューマンクリプトの三つの話題をとりあげて論じる.The functions of cryptography are confidentiality and authenticity. The information security infrastructure of the network society is constructed on the basis of these functions. Thus cryptographic techniques play very important roles in the modern society. In this talk, after introducing fundamental concepts of cryptology, we discuss three topics, CRYPTREC (national initiative of evaluating cryptographic techniques available for the electronic government), cryptosystems of information theoretic security, and humancrypt, as solutions to important problems of security evaluation, long-term security, and harmonization of cryptography and human beings.
