現在、国連は 「持続可能な開発のための教育 (Education for Sustainable Development (以下、ESD と略す。)」 の 10 年 (2005 年~2014 年) の取り組みを推進中である。これは、2002 年、ヨハネスブルグサミットでのわが国の提案を経て、第 57 回国連総会で実施が決議されたものである。ESD は、持続可能な開発の実現に必要な教育への取り組みを積極的に推進するよう各国政府に働きかける国連の戦略プロジェクトであり、環境問題や、人材育成に取り組む関係者が相互に協調しながら持続可能な社会づくりを進める上で、既存の社会ネットワークアクターの協働に期待しようとする色彩が顕著である。本稿では、ICT と教育という視軸から、図書館や美術館といった社会教育施設の ESD 拠点としての活用可能性を検討した。The ESD project, "Education for Sustainable Development" is now in action by the United Nations, and it is now in the midst of the period, whose duration is 2005-2014. This ESD strategic project was proposed at the Johannesburg Summit in 2002 by the Japanese delegation, followed by the resolution at the 57th UN plenary. ESD requires member nations to implement positive policies towards realizing necessary educational plans to support sustainable development, and there, it can be observed the clear implications that experts in the related fields such as environment, human capital training should collaborate with each other under the scope of existing social network actors' co-operation. In this study, from the view points of ICT and education, the potential role of social education facilities such as libraries and museums as a platform of ESD proceeding is discussed and policy implication, how and with which resources ESD objective should be sought is presented.
