The paddy field has a large area in Japan land and therefore the aerial splay of pesticides causes serious environmental problems. The authors carried out the experiments concerning mainly air pollution of pesticides. This paper displayed some examples of 12 points in various parts. Atmospheric pollution, Water contamination and falling to the ground were examined. As a result of these experiments, it was found that air pollution in the paddy caused by pesticide is evolved from three sources. i) In the operation of spray, the pesticide vaporizes from mist of spray. ii) Under sunshine, the pesticide sublimes from leaves of rice plants. iii) After the pesticide sublimed or flowed douwn, the Air-Water Henry's Law is effective. That is, the highest atmospheric concentration of pesticides from paddys is larger than that from the forests or fields. And the reduction of concentration on the former is faster than that on the latter. This tendency is explained on the above three reasons.

新潟水俣病事件は,昭和39年8月ごろから新潟県阿賀野川流域住民の問に発生した有機水銀中毒事件である,「農夫症」という説があったように,原因については昭和電工鹿瀬工場の排水説と地震で流失した水銀農薬説が論争された、現在,阿賀野川流域の環境試料の水銀調査を行っても,四半世紀前の事件の痕跡は皆無であった.しかし,当時の資料を化学的に検討した結果,水銀中毒事件の発生原因は,工場排水が直接の基盤をなしたとはいえず,新潟地震とその直後の集中豪雨によって流失した水銀農薬が 関与していたと推察された。 本研究の議論はあくまでも,公表された記録の数値と,永年,水銀の研究をしてきた著者らの経験を基に,推論したものであり,決して工場排水説を否定するものではない.いずれにしても,この事件を契機に,人々が水銀の毒性,環境汚染というものを理解したことは意義のあることであった.
