This paper describes a transitional wave phenomenon in synchronous flashing of fireflies. We used self-excited oscillator, consists of amplification element, saturation element and phase delay element. To simulate a transitional wave phenomenon, the self-excited oscillator simulated the firefly shouldn't be late from the detection of the flashing of other self-excited oscillator. The period of self-excited oscillator in the transient state depends on strength of own flashing and changes. Strengthening strength of own flashing, perceived the flashing of other self-excited oscillators, the timing of flashing shifts and withdraws by correcting it at a constant period. This is a transitional wave phenomenon.

This paper clarified the excitation mechanism of picking the strings of a guitar. The picking excites forced vibration and free vibration of the strings by giving the strings impact force, friction force and initial condition. At first, separate influence of these force and initial condition was experimentally examined. Then, generation mechanism of transient responses of the strings was examined for ordinary picking technique, by the viewpoint of the influence of impact force, friction force and initial condition.

This study examines the influence of dynamic stiffness in the contact region on disk brake squeal. The frequency of squeal becomes higher as the thrust pressure grows larger. We think the cause of this phenomenon is that the stiffness of the pad depends on thrust pressure, because the vibration characteristics of the disk and the caliper are not change by thrust pressure. Therefore, we measure the contact stiffness of the pad. The results show that the stiffness of the pad has pressure dependency. To clarify the influence of the pad stiffness on squeal, we analyze the disk-pad-caliper system as the surface contact analysis model, which combines the disk with the pad-caliper by distributed springs.

Quadruped animals switch gait patterns with walking frequency for energy-effective walking. This is similar to the phenomenon that excited natural vibration modes are switched with vibration frequency in a MDOFs system. Therefore, in this paper, it is assumed that quadruped animals walk by using the natural vibration of their own musculoskeletal systems. In the simplest rigid-body-link model consisting of a body and four legs, there are the natural vibration modes similar to the gait patterns (trot, pace and gallop) of quadruped animals. However, all the natural frequencies in the model exist near the natural frequency in the free leg, and are accordingly different from the walking frequencies of actual quadruped animals. In the rigid-body-link model added a scapular and a pelvic on observations of quadrupted walking, the natural frequency of the gallop mode corresponding to high speed walking raises greatly and approaches the walking frequency. If the physical characteristics of horses were applied to the rigid-body-link model added the leg's joints, the natural vibration in the model is close to the gait patterns of horses.
