本年9月に台北市で開催されたデジタル映像標準化フォーラムDAVICの第18回総会での審議模様と最新の動きについて報告する。台北会合ではDAVIC仕様の第4版DAVIC1.3が最終的な合意に達したことが主な成果であった。そこでは、サービス&ネットワークマネージメント仕様,分散型放送サーバインタフェース規定,コンテンツメタデータ付与規格,移動体放送規格,Java API拡張,そして対話型デジタル放送のシステム規格第1版などの内容が新たに盛り込まれた。また、今後のDAVICでの通信系サービス仕様化の方向性を一般に提案募集したCFP9に対する提案書が集まり、その内容に関し審議され検討スケジュールの議論がされた。This article reports the discussions made and directions suggested at the 18^<th> DAVIC Taipei meeting in September, 1997. DAVIC is the international standardization forum for interactive digital-video networking and broadcasting technologies. Its 4^<th> specification document (DAVIC 1.3) has reached consensus among members in Taipei. It includes service&network management specs, distributed broadcast server architecture, meta-data specs for content packaging, mobile broadcasting medium specs, new extensions in Java APIs, and the first system specifications on interactive digital broadcasting services. Also in Taipei, the responses from members and non-members on IP technologies for DAVIC(CFP9) were registered and reviewed by members carefully. The schedule to establish the work plan for this new direction of DAVIC is also addressed in this report.

1998年9月に米国フロリダ州クリアウォータで開催された、デジタル映像配信技術の国際標準化フォーラムDAVIC (Digital Audio-Visual Council)の第22回総会について、その模様と最新の動きについて報告する。フロリダ会合では、いつでもどこでもTV番組をアクセスして見ることができる『TV Anytime/Anywhere』のサービス・システムコンセプトのもと、宅内蓄積利用映像システムやDAVICイントラネットに代表される技術課題審議が進んだ。1999年4月のDAVIC1.5仕様書のCD-ROM版発行に向けて、5つの新しいベースライン文書を初めとした15のベースライン文書が会合中に作成,更改された。また、DAVIC1.6に向けた活動方針を諮問する戦略策定委員会の活動が新しいメンバ構成により開始されている。This article reports the activities and discussions made at the 22^<nd> DAVIC Florida meeting in September, 1998. DAVIC is the international standardization forum for interactive digital-video networking and delivery services and systems. Based on "TV Anytime/Anywhere" services and systems concept, where anyone can access to TV programs at anytime and from anywhere via the network, technical discussions proceeded for "local (In-home) storage-based systems", "DAVIC intranet", and more. 15 baseline documents were produced at the meeting, including 5 brand-new ones, which can be the basis for the technical specifications to be issued as DAVIC1.5 CD-ROM at the 1999 April meeting in Japan. The DAVIC Strategic Planning and Advisory Committee (SPAC) was reorganized at the Florida meeting with new members and started its discussion on the directions for DAVIC1.6 and the beyond.
