Customers who hunt only for sale items in shopping are commonly referred to as cherry pickers. However, the quantitative identification of cherry pickers remains controversial in the relevant literature. This study proposes a new approach for identifying cherry pickers with a latent transition model. The proposed approach is sufficiently flexible such that the associated latent class vary over time with the purchasing attitudes of customers. Also, the covariates of the model include the demographic characteristics and the purchase experience of individual customers. The investigation for the purchase experience effect is so important for establishing marketing strategies. In practice, the inference is performed with a stage estimation method. This study illustrates the proposed approach with a purchase data set on an E-commerce website. The results reveal the dynamic patterns of the purchasing attitudes including the latent states of cherry-picking behavior.

In recent years, more and more consumers who cancelled their newspaper subscription have signed up for online-flyer portal sites. However, their site access logs are not necessarily linked with their purchase records stored in ID-POS data, which is a marketing problem from the sellers' point of view. As a solution to this problem, we propose a practical framework of a hidden Markov model which allows for the assessment of the flyer advertisement. We also present a hierarchical Bayesian model which sheds light on the information search and shopping behavior of consumers, given individual heterogeneity. Our results demonstrate that the subscribers of online flyers are more likely to visit stores as they have more flyer accesses, email advertisements from portal sites and the announcements of time-limited sales.

コンパクトシティ政策を進めている富山市を対象として2005年,2010年,2015年の国勢調査の地域メッシュデータを用いて人口分布を把握した.その結果,2005年から2015年にかけて市全体に占める市街化区域の人口割合が上昇していることを確認した.また,人口規模別階級を整理したところ,2005年から2010年にかけては人口1,000人以上を有するメッシュ数が減少したのに対して,2010年から2015年にかけてはメッシュ数が増加に転じた.これらのデータや基本統計量の推移を考慮すると,富山市では2005年から2010年にかけては人口分布が拡散する傾向にあったが,2010年から2015年にかけては人口拡散に歯止めがかかり,集積する傾向に転じていることが確認できた.
