This paper analyzes the course of two revivals of the Matsudonos, ancestors of "Sekke", and clarifies what part both the court and Shogunate had on the foundation of "Sekke". The Shogunate allowed Michimoto, Yukiie Kujo's second son, to inherit from the Matsudonos in the 11th year of the Kanei era. According to the opinion of Sanjonishi as "Bukedenso", this was considered as a foundation of family "Sekke" by the court. However it was not desided because of the connection with the Matsudonos. In this stage "Five-Sekkes" probably became "Six-Sekkes". In the 18th year of the Kanei era, however, the phrase, "Ichidai-Sekke", appears. This means that uniquely Michimoto in his lifetime was accepted as "Sekke". It does not mean that the Matsudonos' were recognized as "Sekke". It is supposed that this change of policy by the Shogunate became functional in accordance with the intention of the Shogunate in the 18th year of the Kanei era that "Sekke" was to be utilized as an internal control structure with the Shogunate's "Bukedenso". So, the Shogunate must have concluded that those organizations had already been established. The revival in the Meiwa era was quite different from the one during the Kanei era. It is clearly pointed out that the Matsudonos' revival was brought about by the separation of possessions of the Kujos.
