This paper discusses the possibility of realizing improvements in magnetic properties of non-oriented electrical steel sheets. In such sheets, a random {100} texture can increase flux densities and decrease iron losses, and the increase in flux density at 5000 A/m (B50) may be over 0.2 T, while decrease ratio of iron loss at 1.5 T and 50Hz (W15/50) may be more than 1/3. On the other hand, the improvement of iron loss at 1 T and 400Hz (W10/400) due to a random {100} texture may be little, but the texture can increase flux densities, and the increase in flux density at 800 A/m (B8),where motors are designed, may over 0.4 T. It is important to improve metallurgy and rolling technology in manufacturing process in order to realize the theoretical optimum magnetic properties of non-oriented electrical steel sheets.

Magnetic and mechanical characteristics of adhesive coating non-oriented electrical steel sheet cores were measured in the conditions of motor, comparing with those of welded cores. The deteriorations of iron losses and exciting currents by adhesion are less than those by welding. The noise levels and vibrating levels of adhesive coating cores are about 10dB lower than welded cores. The results of modal analysis of adhesive coating core and welded one support the results of noise and vibration tests. The heat conductivities of adhesive coating cores in lamination direction are higher.

This paper focuses on no-load iron losses of turbine generators. To calculate iron losses of turbine generators a program was developed. In the program, core loss curves of materials used for stator core were reproduced precisely by using tables of loss coefficients. Accuracy of calculation by this method was confirmed by comparing calculated values with measured in a model stator core. The iron loss of a turbine generator estimated with considering three-dimensional distribution of magnetic fluxes. And additional losses included in measured iron loss was evaluated with three-dimensional magnetic field analysis.
