Cancer is the world’s biggest health problem and cancer-induced mortality happened all over the planet after the heart disease. The present study was to scrutinize the anti-leukemia effect of diosmin against Dalton Ascitic Lymphoma (DAL) induced leukemia in mice. DAL cell was used for induction the solid tumor. Body weight, life spans, tumor volume and mean survival time was estimated. Antioxidant, biochemical and pro-inflammatory cytokines were estimated. Diosmin showed the cell viability effect at dose dependent manner against the both cell lines. DAL induced solid tumor mice showed the decreased body weight, mean survival days, non viable cell count and increased the tumor volume, viable cell count and diosmin significantly (p < 0.001) reverse the effect of DAL. Diosmin significantly (p < 0.001) altered the hematological, differential leukocytes, antioxidant, biochemical, pro-inflammatory cytokines at dose dependently. Collectively, we can say that diosmin might alter the DAL induced abnormality via antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects.

The fatty acids in seven species of fish roes were determined by GC-MS in combination with principal component and cluster analyses in order to derive their fatty-acid profiles and fingerprints. Twenty-three common chromatography peaks were identified in the fatty-acid fingerprints of the seven fish roes. A total of 19 typical fatty acids were identified in the fish roes studied. The fatty acid contents of the roes were significantly different, with saturated-fatty-acid contents in the seven roes ranging from 26.69% to 41.81%, and the unsaturated-fatty-acid contents ranging from 57.65% to 72.21%, the total EPA and DHA content (37.20%) is high in E. cypselurus roe, especially. The seven roe species were clearly distinguished according to fatty-acid composition and content by principal component analysis (PCA) and divided into two groups by cluster analysis (CA). PCA of the fatty acid data yielded three significant PCs , which together account for 94% of the total variance; with PC1 contributing 54% of the total.

Background: Recent studies have suggested that pregnancy-associated plasma protein-A (PAPP-A) is involved in the pathogenesis of atherosclerosis. This study aim is to investigate the role and mechanisms of PAPP-A in reverse cholesterol transport (RCT) and inflammation during the development of atherosclerosis. Methods and Results: PAPP-A was silenced in apolipoprotein E (apoE−/−) mice with administration of PAPP-A shRNA. Oil Red O staining of the whole aorta root revealed that PAPP-A knockdown reduced lipid accumulation in aortas. Oil Red O, hematoxylin and eosin (HE) and Masson staining of aortic sinus further showed that PAPP-A knockdown alleviated the formation of atherosclerotic lesions. It was found that PAPP-A knockdown reduced the insulin-like growth factor 1 (IGF-1) levels and repressed the PI3K/Akt pathway in both aorta and peritoneal macrophages. The expression levels of LXRα, ABCA1, ABCG1, and SR-B1 were increased in the aorta and peritoneal macrophages from apoE−/−mice administered with PAPP-A shRNA. Furthermore, PAPP-A knockdown promoted RCT from macrophages to plasma, the liver, and feces in apoE−/−mice. In addition, PAPP-A knockdown elevated the expression and secretion of monocyte chemoattractant protein-1 (MCP-1), interleukin-6 (IL-6), tumor necrosis factor-α, and interleukin-1β through the nuclear factor kappa-B (NF-κB) pathway. Conclusions: The present study results suggest that PAPP-A promotes the development of atherosclerosis in apoE−/−mice through reducing RCT capacity and activating an inflammatory response.
