This timber framed brick building, which has been familiar to Kushiro citizens as '16 ban-souko', and used as the cultural facilities, was built as a storehouse for the use of Mikami Sadaharu who managed a transportation business. This report is a result of an investigaton depending on its history, formation, structure and a survey of the buildding.

We have improved the coffee beans selection machine. To keep the quality of coffee,the coffee beans are selected. The coffee beans selection machine consists of the CCD video cameraand PC with built-in video capture board. The quality distinction of the coffee beans are done withthe image processing software in PC. In this report, the quality distinction technique that usedtwo or more color information was examined. As results of the experiment, best color informationfor the quality distinction was able to be obtained.

Sunshine time in Kushiro city is very long. But the photovoltaics is not spreaded in Kushiro city. The reason may be the preconception of "Foggy town". Therefore it is important to investigate the photovoltaics in Kushiro city. We have measured the solar power by 3kW photovoltaic cell panel since 1997. In this paper, we discuss the practical possibility of the photovoltaics in Kushiro city.

Eiken tests are extremely popular within Japan, and are considered to be English proficiency tests like TOEIC and TOEFL. However, these tests have been criticized in regard to how reliable they are in providing a true measure of overall English proficiency and in regard to the quality of the test items they utilize for measuring that proficiency. This paper outlines an analysis of the content and quality of test items within a Third Level Eiken test, given to 119 first year students at a national technical college in a regional area of northern Japan. Data gathered from student responses to these test items was used to calculate a reliability estimate of this test for comparison with that consistently gained in TOEIC tests using the same formula. Item discrimination and item facility values were also calculated to determine the degree of difficulty of test items and the degree to which each test item separates good test performers from the not-so-good performers. Analysis of the data gathered from this study group revealed a low reliability estimate for test items in comparison to that normally obtained for the TOEIC test, and that 79% of test items should be revised or deleted because they discriminate poorly between test takers, or are too easy or difficult for the target test takers.

There are some drama works named `the Theater of the Absurd', whichexpress that a unifying force is lacking in the world and individuals live with a sense that itis lacking. These sense of the absurdity was caused by the death of God. After the deathof God, some writers began to write works in which people live in the world without God. In this paper, I take mainly four writers–Camus, Sartre, Kafka and Beckett— from themand treat the relation between the death of God and the absurdity in their works.
