Historically, the concern of wind instrumentalists has been diaphragm control and embouchure.Laryngeal movement during " blow " has been overlooked or neglected by wind musicians. It has been said that musical tone has to be produced by the resonances of the player's air column by opening his larynx during blow.In the present study, fiberscopic observations of the larynx during blow revealed that musical tones were played with adducted vocal cords. Narrowed glottis appeared to control the airflow of the blow. Persons who could not make musical tone blew with open glottis. Vibrato was also made by rhythmic open and narrowing movements of the glottis. The authors concluded that the larynx regulates the airflow of the " blow ". The authors postulated that the embouchure might be important as the receptor of the airflow rather than controlling the movement for "blow".

We have treated 38 adults with ankyloglossia with deviation of the epiglottis and larynx.1) The patients had type III occlusion of Angle's and had irregular teeth in the upper jaw.2) The patients' chief complaints were shoulder stiffness, cold extremities, feeling of obstruction in the throat, insomnia, fatigue, snoring, irritated, dry skin, incorrect articulation and muscle cramps during physical activity, pregnancy and/or sleep.3) Correction of the ankyloglossia and deviation of the epiglottis and larynx resulted in great relief of their chief complaints as well as their respiratory function.4) In addition, patients said that they breathed more easily, could bite well, and that their joints could bend better. They also remarked that they were less angry.However there were no significant changes in their incorrect articulations.

われわれは新生児・乳児の疳泣は病的な心理的印象を与え, 音声分析では, 音声波形の立ち上がりが急激で, そのスペクトログラムは調波構造の形成が不十分で基本周波数が不安定であることを前回報告した.<BR>今回は, 疳泣と幼児虐待との心理的関係を調べるために虐待に繋がる心理的傾向を軸に多重評価法を用い音声分析との比較, 内観をみた.2名の疳泣児の局麻下レーザーによる舌・喉頭矯正術前後の泣き声を採取し, 10秒間再生した.多重評価軸には「不快だ―快感だ」, 「憎い―可愛い」, 「怒りたい―あやしたい」を7段階とした.術前は不快方向に―25で, 憎い方向に―4.5, 怒りたい方向に―4という評価であった.術後はすべてプラス方向へ24~30移動していた.音声分析による内観においては, (不快) に感じた部分は音の急激な立ち上がりと強いエネルギー, 調波構造が形成されていない部分であった.また (憎い・怒りたい) と感じた部分は共通しており, 不快な音の頻回の繰り返しに感じていた.<BR>さらにわれわれの観察している疳泣児の問題点を述べ, 疳泣は放置すべきでないことを明らかにした.
