This is a case study of students'growth processes in a senior high school with a credit system and no grade system. The credit-system high school has been founded to take in high school dropouts and truants. In this study, the interviews were used to assess how students'daily school experiences influence the processes and the mechanisms of students'growth. The findings revealed that the flexible system encourages a huge variety of students to grow up in various manners. Not only those who exercise their autonomy but also those who lack self-direction can make good use of the system and grow up in the high school. As a result, many dropouts and truants are able to return to school.

2003年8月〜2004年3月にかけて,宇都宮大学教育学部附属教育実践総合センター教育臨床研究部門臨床心理研究分野で実施した,集団プログラムならびに個別プログラムについての報告である。8月の夏季プログラム開始時は9名の参加者であったが,最終的に年度末の卒業式まで継続出席できたのは3名であった。本稿では,集団プログラムと個別プログラムの概要を述べ,中途でやめていった子どもの様子を中心に,留意しなければならない参加者側の要因をいくつかに分けて詳細に検討し,次年度以降プログラム運営を行う際に,受け入れ側である筆者らスタッフが考慮しなければならないことを考察する。
