The study aims to clarify how the image of schizophrenia can be changed by delivering a lecture with use of Delusion and Hallucination Cards. We asked 91 second-year nursing students to play Delusion and Hallucination Cards and conducted a questionnaire survey on the image of schizophrenia before/after playing the cards. We were using the questionnaire contents consisting of psychiatric patient’s image survey, social distance scale, and free writing. Later, the results were analyzed by using Wilcoxon signed-rank test, Mann-Whitney U test, and factor analysis with SPSS25.0J for Windows (Significance level: less than 5%). For free writing, we extracted the portion of image and teaching effect. As a result, the study received answers from 78 respondents, and 74 respondents provided valid responses for the analysis. A shift in the image of schizophrenia by playing Delusion and Hallucination Cards indicated a significant change in 18 items such as “Intense-Calm”, “Dangerous-Safe”, and “Scary-Not scary”, then the image of schizophrenia was shifted to positive by playing Delusion and Hallucination Cards. In social distance scale, we found a significant change in “Whether to employ a person with schizophrenia if you are a manager?”, but there was no large change in other items. In free writing, 4 categories were extracted as “Understanding of symptom”, “Understanding of individuality”, “Change in image”, and “Enjoyment through learning Delusion and Hallucination Cards”, and positive answers occupied the majority.Since the image of schizophrenia was shifted to positive by using Delusion and Hallucination Cards but change in social distance scale was not recognized, we would like to further examine lecture contents in future such as actual experience of a person with schizophrenia who could successfully returned to society.
