有機ELの陽極として現在広く用いられているものにITOがある.ITOの表面の処理法を変え,それによる効果を接触角の測定や表面自由エネルギーを求めることによって検討した.またそれぞれの洗浄を行ったITO基板を用いて有機EL素子を作製し特性を比較評価した.表面処理にUVオゾン処理やO_2プラズマ処理を用いた場合,洗浄を行わない場合や有機洗浄のみの場合に比べITO表面はより親水性となり,また素子特性の向上がみられた.

We have constructed a prototype of partial discharge (PD) pulse measurement and degradation diagnosis expert system (PDM/ES-I) using a personal computer for insulation degradation diagnosis of materials suffering from PDs. For 0.1 mm-thick low density polyethylene (LDPE) with CIGRE Method II electrode system, temporal change of phase-angle-resolved PD pulse occurrence distribution was measured with PDM/ES- I. We applied the so-called "pattern recognition" of the PD pulse distribution to diagnosis of insulation degradation and assessment of residual life. Experimental results revealed that in spite of large scattering of time to breakdown, i. e. life, from 5 to 43 hours, all the tested samples exhibited similar evolution of the profile of PD pulse occurrence distribution with increasing aging time. The PD pattern measured at a given aging time was compared with five standard normalized PD patterns which had been registered in advance as five representative degradation stages from initial degradation category to final one. The degradation stage determined by the pattern recognition (PR) method proved to vary from the initial degradation category to final one in a correct turn. Consequently, the PR method permitted an exact determination of the degree of degradation at a given aging time. In other words, the PR method was capable of predicting the residual life of LDPE with a CM-II electrode system.

The effects of temperature and electrode materials on space charge distributions of Linear Low-Density Polyethylene (LLDPE) polymerized with Ziegler catalyst were measured with the pulsed electro-acoustic (PEA) method. The thickness of a sample was about 100 µm. Positive space charge was dominant and it changed from homo to hetero space charge with temperature. The mobility of positive charge was 8.1×10-15 m2V-1s-1 at 23°C and 1.0×10-14 m2V-1s-1 at 30°C. On the other hand, the mobility of negative charge was 3.7×10-15 m2V-1s-1 at 30°C. The positive space charge accumulating near the cathode enhanced the electron injection and, as a result, the charging current. The electrode materials used were aluminum and semi-conductive polymer. The space charge distribution and the charge injection depended on electrode conditions.

As organic solar thin films fabricated by an active layer of organic materials are economical, lightweight, and flexible, as well as facilitating processing, organic solar cells have attracted considerable attention within the past few decades as a clean energy source. With this in mind, there have been global investigations and studies of the power conversion efficiency (PCE) within organic solar cells. In organic thin-film solar cells, the effect of the performance is not only dependent on an adopted active material but also the molecular orientation on the electrode. Using the mixed solution of Poly (3-hexylthiophene) and PCBM, both dissolved by solvent, an organic thin film is fabricated using the paint method (The conceptual diagram of the paint method is shown in Fig. 1) The form of the thin film was evaluated, an organic thin-film solar cell using the paint method for the active layer was made, and its performance was evaluated and examined.<br>   Using the mixed solution of Poly(3-hexylthiophene) and PCBM, both dissolved by solvent, an organic thin film is fabricated using the paint method (The conceptual diagram of the paint method is shown in Fig. 1) The morphology of the thin film was evaluated using an AFM image, UV/vis spectra, and so forth. Based on these data, an organic thin-film solar cell that used the paint method for the active layer was fabricated, and the performance was evaluated and examined. For the organic thin film solar cell fabricated using the brush painting method, the open-circuit voltage (Voc) is 0.41 V, the short circuit current density (Jsc) is 2.07 mA/cm<sup>2</sup>, and the fill factor is 0.34. The efficiency η of PCE becomes 0.29%.<br>
