The purpose of this paper is to study by the urban axis concept and the hierarchical structure method for the city design plans by Kenzo Tange. In case of many of his architectural works by Kenzo Tange, people will find golden sections on their design. From the early period of his design his architecture were a kind of city design and he strongly requests the urban axis concept to the symbolic structure design on top of the axis. In case of city design models his view points are like a birds eye view, so that his interests are relationship and proportion of combination of street width especially the case the streets are straight or orthogonally. Compare with architectural elevations, the functional restricts are stronger because the width of streets reflects the volume of traffic, but in case of symbolic loads landscaping with street trees etc. and with pedestrian way would control the total width of street. On the top of the urban axix he set the symbolic end and also symbolize the urban axis in case of the city design.

The purpose of this paper is to study by the hierarchical structure method with golden section for architectural elevations by Kenzo Tange. In case of many of his works of Kenzo Tange, people will find golden section on them. He requests his staffs to make models from the early stage of the design, and check the design and proportion quite repeatedly. Model makings are at the beginning in 1:500 scale, next in 1:200 scale, then in 1:50 scale , in 1:10 scale etc.. At each stages the. Frameworks of each scales are decided by him and by his old staffs. Therefore even if observers feel there is no les traces regulateurs or no modulor in the'design process in front of Kenzo Tange, golden section is gradually decided through the feed back process.

The author argues in the way of ideographic analysis concerning visual human images as interfaces between person and environment, that is compared with the way of nomothetic analysis which pursues objectivity and universality. The function of affective meaning is reconfirmed here, and the purpose of the study could be to pursue the aspect of the variety, multi-layering, and transaction of affective meaning. Analytical description of the scene was done in an environmental situation which could be said as a socio-ecological event. Then it is observed that the quality of the informations which belong to the affective meaning in the visual human images changes through perceptual cycles, and that it does not only control the person to person relationships and behavior settings at the spot but also gives non-ignorable influences to spatial arrangements and its architectural planning and design, as an important example of interface.
