Since Leo Kanner reported 11 cases of “early infantile autism” in 1943, various kinds of studies and researches have been made. At present, we generally understand the “autism” is a behavioral syndrome of multiple etiologies. I would like to stress that we pediatricians, meeting the patients first, must play the roles of the specialists in diagnosis, treatment, prophylaxis, and of the advisers in guiding mothers, teachers and the others. The purpose of medicine and education is to help the handicapped to draw as much satisfaction and enjoyment from life as possible.

本研究は、第1報で提起した問題の1つである保護抑制に関する実験報告である。実験は4名の自閉児を被験児として行ない、刺激に対する反応としてGSRを用いた。実験要因は、実験室要因(プレイルーム、シールドルーム)と刺激強度要因(1000Hz-80db, 1000Hz-20db)である。各実験要因のGSRに対する影響を個人内で比較したところ、4名の被験児で一貫した傾向はみられず、保護抑制の関与を推測させるものが3名あった。結果を条件反射学の立場から考察し、今後の研究の方法論についても論じた。This report is experimental report about central defensive inhibition, which is one of some works we proposed to study hereafter in our 1'st report. deffensive inhibition is preventative of exhaustion of central nerve cell. In this report, Experiment was conducted with 4 autistic children as subject, and GSR is used as measures of responses to stimuli. Experimental factors are Experimental Room Factor (playroom or sealedroom) and Stimulus Strength Factor (80 horn or 20horn). Effects, each experimental factor have upon GSRs, were compared with intra-subject. That effects were not consistent among 4 subjests. In 3 subjects, defensive inhibition was speculated, but, a kind of stimuli, caused defensive inhibition, was not same. We discussed these findings based on Pavlovian Conditioning Theory and speculated about Physiological Bases of Autism.
