In order to maintain health throughout one's life time it is important to start in adolescence. Keeping good eating, sleeping, and exercise habits is key to a healthy life.Yet problems such as obesity or underweight caused by lack of sleep, exercise, or by unbalanced eating habits are increasing among young people. Educating young people tobe responsible for their own health is very important in solving these problems. It is not enough to depend on schools to educate children. Parents must also be partners in thisprocess. This paper reports on promoting parental participation in the education of young people in regard to health issues. This paper also reports on the results of a project inwhich students participated in peer education activities in local communities.

思春期は若者が健康な身体や生活習慣を築く上で大切な時期であるが,この時期は若者が容易に健康リスクにさらされる時期でもある。我々はこれまで若者が正しい知識を身につけ適切な行動を行うという目標のもとに若者に対するピアエデュケーションを実践し,効果が見られているが,今回,学校のスタッフのみならず若者の親も巻き込んだ思春期健康教育導入の必要性を感じたため,地域に思春期の若者と親の教育と相談のための健康センターを開設した。Adolescence is a crucial period in one's life in that young people build healthy body and lifestyles,however,young people are also easily exposed to health risk during this period.Although we have alreadyconducted a peer education for the young people with the goal that they have correct knowledge and actappropriately and have got the positive education effect,this time,we established a health center for theyoung people in a community because we felt the need to introduce adolescent health education which notonly school staff but also young people's parents are involve in.In this study,we examined the need for the education activity in a community as a new approach foradolescent health education and its future direction,through the results of the health education in a highschool by university students,study sessions between parent supporters and young people's parents in acommunity,and holding liaison conference among relevant people.
