Today, libraries especially in Japan's universities are changing for the sake of attracting students, because young students have a tendency not to read books. For example, to install the wireless LAN and movable chairs in order to create a more talk-friendly environment. This type of library is called "Staying type library." In view of this situation,we investigate four university libraries,a town library and eight Kosen libraries.Kosen is one of the higher education institutions as universities in Japan. This report will be useful for the future Kosen library.

The effects of d-limonene on the concentrations of corticosterone in mouse plasma were studied by using a cold stress model. The concentrations of corticosterone in the plasma of mice loaded with the cold stress at 4℃ for 30 minutes were ca. 3.4 times as higher as those of the control mice. When mice were loaded with the cold stress in the atmosphere including 50, 100, 150 μL of d-limonene/ca. 11 L, the concentrations of corticosterone in mouse plasma tended to be decreased depending on the amount of d-limonene. Especially, the concentrations of corticosterone in the plasma of mice treated with 100 μL of d-limonene were significantly lower than those of mice loaded with the cold stress only, and there was no significant difference between the concentrations in mice treated with 150 μL of d-limonene and those of the control mice. These results suggest that the inhalation of d-limonene could lower the concentrations of corticosterone in the plasma of mice loaded with the cold stress and the preventing effects of this compound on the cold stress would be expected.

「ふじのくにゆうゆうクラブ」は、静岡県生涯学習振興財団が県の委託を受けて行う事業であり、土曜日を中心とした学校休業日に、県内の学校や公共施設、山や川などの屋外を会場として自分の趣味や興味のあることを、遊びをとおして体験する講座である。本稿では、我々が今年度実施したLEGO MINDSTORMSを用いたロボット教室について、準備段階から実施に至る過程を中心に詳しく報告する。

The Linear Time-varying State Space Model(LTM) is one of important system models in engineering. The purpose of this report is to present a new computational algorithm for solving minimum norm control problems of LTM. The new algorithm is based on the small gain theorem. The justificability of the new approach is illustrated by some examples.

This paper offers a way to introduce technical terms as quizzes at the beginning of each English class and examines whether the activity is effective. The prototype of the quizzes were made and used when I worked at a technical high school about a decade ago. I have modified the original quizzes to suit my current purposes. The technical terms and sentences were extracted from the word list in the study aid book for the English technical writing test, or KOUGYOU-EIKEN. One of the reasons I used the terms in this book, and not from science magazines or textbooks, is that students will be able to earn extra credits if they are able to pass the Kougyou-Eiken.

The invaluable education resource on Mt.Fuji was edited by Professor emeritus T.Fujieda (Late) for his lectureof International Liberal Arts at Numazu National College of Technology (NCT), marked up in HTML as WEB resource byDavid in 1997, and then used for the first On-line Lecture from NCT through SCS (Space Collaboration System) in 1999.The legacy of NCT is now reedited for our memory, which is separated into three parts. The first one is presented here.

Squire's theorem is fundamental in a fluid stability theory. This theorem asserts that in a parallel flow, the critical Reynolds number for 3-dimensional (3-D) disturbances is always greater than that for 2-D disturbances. This report attempts to give a proof of Squire's theorem in a constructive approach. A process of the proof itself gives a method of a stability analysis for 2-D parallel flows. The stability of fundamental flows, I. e. a plane Poiseuille flow and a Couette flow, are invenstigated by the method. These results give a good agreement with previous one.

In this paper, Improvement of "first year experiences" in department of electric and electronics engineering is reported. In laboratory tours, students are given an assignment of a laboratory. Experiments of newly introduced are electronics crafts of bread-boards, original substrate fabrication and science experiments. Introduction of science experiments are reported in another article. As a result of questionary investigation, these modifications are evaluated faborably for students.

The purpose of this research is to apply Marching Cube method to the Boundary-Map geometric model which is one of decomposition model, and to visualize it at high speed. The Boundary-Map geometric model is a geometric model based on decomposition data developed as a geometric model suitable for computer aided manufacturing system. This model has been applied to tool path generation, NC machining simulation and so on. It is confirmed that the Boundary-Map model is able to use as a geometric model for CAM. However, this model is difficult to create polygons for visualization because it is a decomposition model. On the other hand, Marching Cube method is the most general technique that visualizes medical images like as MRI and CT data. In this report, the algorithm which is to visualize the Boundary-Map geometric model by using Marching Cube method is developed, and it is recognized that this method is able to realize visualization at high speed.
