In this report, I inspected the developments of rice cookers before they were controlled by microcomputer, based on newspaper advertisements. As a result, it becomes clear that; 1) Broadly speaking, rice cookers were improved in pursuit of convenience and good taste of rice. 2) Many improvements in convenience were carried out since early years, such as adding timer, function of various cooking, that of keeping heat in rice. 3) Improvements in taste were started from tightening cover lock to prevent leakage of steam and lowering of its pressure. In later years, the mechanisms of heating were improved, but it didn't go far enough.

Using standard color chips for architecture, effects of lightness on perceived qualities were studied by means of a rank test (qualites : gloss, transparency, deepness, thickness, metallic, planarity, and silkyness senses). A few qualities increased (transparency, planarity and silkyness senses) and the others decreased with increasing the Munsell lightness value (deepness, thickness and metallic senses) . The effect of hue on the percieved qualities were also detectable in the deepness and silkyness senses.

Modem design in Hungary had developed under the influence of Bauhaus in 1930s. Moholy-Nagy, Molnar Forkas and Bortnyik Sandor showed Bauhaus' teaching methods and ideas in the graphic arts magazines. Functionalist architect Molnal who had worked with Gropius contributed on the development of modern Hungarian architecture. Bortnyik founded his free school called "Muhely" (Workshop) in the spirit of Bauhaus in Budapest (1928-38). He had teached the constructivist form, published magazines "Uj Fold", "Plakat" and created commercial posters with Herbert Bayer's universal script. These two streams opened the possibility in the Hungarian modern design field.

It was during the late Muromachi Era (1392-1573) that hairdresser's saloons first made their appearance on the streets of Kyoto. In the early hairdresser's saloons, hair on the upper front part of men's scalps (the area known as the "sakayaki") was plucked out with tweezers. Later during the Tensho eriod (1573-92), however, the new method of shaving the sakayaki with a razor was adopted. The tool that was used in hairdressing was shown on the signboard of hairdresser's saloons. Above change is remarkable with the fact that general objects illustrated on the signboards-tweezers in early times; replaced with razors at the next stage.

The purpose of this paper is to clarify the effect of material of a beer cup on its taste from the view point of the froth on beer. First, the height of froth layer of beer had been measured in the two cups made of glass and ceramic respectively, after it had just poured into a cup. Next, the taste of beer were evaluated with five kinds of cup : each cup was made of different material. Two kinds of beer was also evaluated to examine the influence of material by a kind of beer. It was suggested the difference of material of cup affects to frothing because of the surface property and the taste of beer depends on the kind of not only material but also beer.
