The purpose of this paper is to compare Shushinkaneiri and Ukiyozoshi (entertaining stories of Edo period). Although a large number of studies have been made on the influences of Yokyoku on Shushin kaneiri, little is known about those of Ukiyozoshi. In conclusion, (1) the outline of Shushin kaneiri resembles those of Ukiyozoshi tales, (2) Nakagusuku Wakamatsu is described as a wakashu (young man) who demonstrates shudo (traditional Japanese male love).
