Last year, the Nishitetsu Railroad Company in Fukuoka, started a new service-a railway carriage reserved for women only, and this was welcomed by most women. According to our research, one in four women reported she had suffered from molestation in a train in the past year. Now a lot of women get on this particular carriage. Others who don't use this service say it is inconvenient for them when changing trains or when in a rush to the exit, because the last carriage is arranged for this reserved service. What suffers women more is that they could do nothing during or after the harassment. Society must recognize that the molester harassment is a crime. We should develop more guidance in schools, companies and other public forums to help resolve this issue. The "Women-Only Carriage Service" can help raise our awareness to prevent discrimination against women in Japanese society. And we must look at other solutions to cope with this situation.

What was the beginning of the education of Western music in Japan? As numerous results of studies which many scholars have gained show, we may say that, the answer would be that the missionaries from the Society of Jesus came to Japan in the middle of 16^<th> century in order to preach Christianity and taught the Japanese converts how to sing great number of Gregorian chants and how to play various kinds of musical instruments, such as the previous-type of the viola and the organ. In fact, when we read historical materials written by those padres, it is not difficult to find the facts that 400 distant years ago, the Japanese at the time adored Western music quite, whether they loved the Christian ideas/doctrines or not, and also the high quality of musical education was provided in the educational, religious institutions (especially, the schools called seminario and collegio) which those Jesuit missionaries established, although people today tend to think that the flourish of the education of Western music emerged after the Meiji restoration. The first contact between the Japanese and the Westerners stretches back to 1543, when the Japanese old-type firearms was first brought to Japan by shipwrecked Portuguese merchants. Soon after that, their commercial contacts were developed into the Nan-ban trade, and this was soon followed by the missionary work towards the Japanese, since at that time, the Iberian countries enjoyed the great age of exploration with their economic and political ambitions. On the other hand, Japanese feudal lords, who were in pursuit of their own economic motives, were fairly attracted by the trade income as well. Thus, the Nan-ban trade and the expansion of the churches in Japan were inseparable for their financial reasons. However, the religious music appealed to inhabitants' hearts as a cultural aspect of Christianity. An Italian Padre, A. Valignano, who endeavoured to spread the Christian faith and religious education in Japan, attached a huge importance to this effective, spiritual exchange, in teaching at church-related schools. I shall examine his efforts and the outcome of such education of religious music in Japan, taking the following examples of seminario timetable and the despatch of Tensho boy-missions to Rome, 'Manvale ad Sacramenta' and 'uta-oratio', one of crypto-Christian's heritage, from various points of view ; political, social and cultural backgrounds in Japan in this essay.

A 2009-2011 questionnaire survey on"Regionality of Culinary Culture and Cookery Science Foods for Special Events and Rites" was conducted by the Japan Society of Cookery Science. We report on awareness and experience of foods for annual events and rites of passage among 315 respondents (227 students and 88 non-students),revealing generational differences. The most widely recognized and experienced annual events were New Year's Day,Christ-mas,New Year's Eve,and Setsubun (Bean-Throwing Festival). High percentages of respondents had experienced eating New Year's foods such as zoni and osechi ryori, Christmas cake, and toshikoshi soba. The rites of passage familiar to and experienced by many students and non-students were birthdays, the Seven-Five-Three festival, funerals, and the Buddhist, memorial service. In particular, many had eaten cake on birthdays. Although students were very aware of all of these ceremonies, they had not necessarily experienced them firsthand. The mother's influence on foods for special events is very strong, and twice that of the father for students and 11 times that of the father for non-students. Transmission from mother to child is indicated, and we recognize the significance of promoting awareness offoods for special events among female students - the mothers of the future.

Two great authors, Tolstoy and Dostoevsky, were influenced greatly by Dickens and spoke of him as that great Christian writer. But like so many Victorian writers, he was not conspicuously devout. He was reticent on the subject of religion, but we can let an earnest letter which he wrote to the Reverend D. Macrae speak for him. ... . All my strongest illustrations are drawn from the New Testament: all my social abuses are shown as departures from its spirit: all my good people are humble, charitable, faithful, and forgetting. I cream them in express words as disciples of the Founder of our religion ... In his work, he puts a religious emphasis on the New Testament rather than on the Old, on Christ rather than on Jehovah. First of all, this study is to show the base of the his faith through his itineracy of his Christianity, and secondly to examine the relationship his religious beliefs and the Bible through his works, his letters and his will. Finally I view from the Bibles role as allusion in A Christmas Carol.

The present study examined correlations between nature and imagination in Beatrix Potter's works. Firstly, to understand her personal history, all her life was divided into four stages, and the contact with nature in her life was investigated. Secondly, passages from the Bible were presented which influenced her use of words and the structure of her tales, and the main features of her works in which she showed deep love and understanding for nature, particularly the nature in Great Britain surrounding her life. Potter didn't write how much she loved nature directly in her tales, but readers can feel her love of nature through her pictures in her books. Finally, this study presented in detail these correlations between nature and imagination in the process of creating her tales, especially "The Tale of Squirrel Nutkin".

This is the gist of 'Children's Sensitivity and Child-centred Approaches to Music Education for Fostering Their Personality Developments', the second part of my essay ' Infant Music Education to Cultivate the Inner World of Children'. I shall shed light on the importance of child-centred approaches to infant music education from the following points of view: the relation between tranquillity and children's ability to concentrate by listening to sounds carefully. I also analyse the influences of the methods and principals introduced by a couple of great music educationalists, such as Emile Jaques-Dalcroze, Kodaly Zoltan, and Carl Orff in Japan, examining the differences and similarities of each cultural background of other countries and how these educational ways should be taken into Japanese nursery schools in order to make them the most effective and suitable educational opportunities to today's Japanese children. Thirdly, I mention the ideal attitudes of the nursery school teachers when they assist children in familiarising music and when they encourage them to stimulate various music experiences in their daily lives. There is a strong bond between infants and memories and good enjoyable music experiences; genuinely authentic music which sinks into children's deepest hearts, and adults' affection to children which brings out children's talents and active attitude to learn and live.

The city of Kurume enacted the Basic Ordinance on Kurume's Foods, Agriculture and Farming Villages in March 2004. In line with the basic principle, the Kurume Central Wholesale Market (Kurume Seika K.K.) collaborated with the producers to carry out R&D of a new vegetable, caulibro.Caulibro, a cross between cauliflower and broccoli, is another name for Romanesco (scientific name: Brasica oierancea var. botrytist f. botrytis), a variety of vegetable originally from the Netherlands. The edible portion is a flower bud, and is characterized by a light, sweet taste and short heating time (2 or 3 minutes of boiling). To publicize caulibro to citizens and promote its consumption, the authors developed cooking recipes using this vegetable. The recipes consisted of two staple dishes, five main dishes, six side dishes, and one soup. The cooking method makes use of caulibro's culinary characteristics. The amount per serving was either 70 g for caulibro only, or 140 g in combination with other vegetables. The standard amount used in the Meal Balance Guide for one side dish (sv) was used as a reference. The cooking recipes that were developed have been published on the Kurume Seika's website.

George Eliot describes elaborately the everyday life of simple people in the story of Silas Marner, as the same way of other works, besides treating delicate psychology, feeling and thoughts of the people in the story, related them to the developing interior change in the characters. Her moral thought is to expand sympathy. It is stressed that the individual human cannot live in isolation from the community, and there is a significant importance attached to the interpersonal interactions and the necessity to mutual cooperation together among human beings. This essay will examine the process and the reasons that Silas Marner became isolated from his community, and how he restarts from the despair after being robbed of all his coins. In conclusion this paper will emphasize the necessity of love and sympathy in this process.

The aim of this thesis is to clarify the reflection of childcare from the view-point of collegiality and growth of teacher in a case study of a kindergarten. Our conclusions are as follows:1. Collegiality puts both an individual power and collaborative power onto a higher level.2. It is necessary to actualize latent collaboration in daily eduational practice.
