The distance between origin and destination and the range of the area tourist travel at the destination show a positive correlation. This relationship is known in the Japanese tourism study field as the ‘Racket Theory' in analogy to the shape of tennis racket. In this study, for the purpose of contributing to the destination marketing of Japanese DMOs, we examined the difference of strength of Racket Theory according to the income or purpose of travel. The results showed that the correlation is stronger in the tourist with standard household income and also the correlation is stronger in mass tourism, in the other hand, the correlation is weaker in the alternative tourism.

Japanese traditional place name was materialized from the geographical feature and the geology of the land. That is, Japanese traditional place name is “Individuality of the land”. It shows the information on the longtime land at the present. Japanese traditional vegetables are also the same elements because their cultivated by environment. This note is using the information included in the place name at Mikawashima area, Arakawa, Tokyo.

Tokyo chosen to host the 2020 Olympic Games, there has been an increasing interest in sports tourism as a source for generating new demand in overall tourism to Japan. However, currently we have not seen what we could call an exemplary model for success domestically thus far. What is the important factor to succeed in sports tourism? Based on the research and analysis of the success of Honolulu Marathon, which has been annually drawn over 10,000 Japanese participants for 45 years, we hope to contribute to the development of sports tourism in Japan by finding a core competency that will produce sustainable value in this field.

The school trip in a Japanese school is planned as a thing which recognizes various knowledge on many sides and originally investigates it at the area, and can be positioned as "learning tourism." However, in a school trip in recent years, it carried out without also awaking what awareness of the issues in the travel, teachers also regards a school trip as one of the mere usual school events, and students and teachers has hardly paid concern for the meaning. The school trip to Tohoku district and Hokkaido in Japan which Fukushima Prefectural Aizu High School in this year under the Great East Japan Earthquake succeeded in making a newly think in local situation. Moreover, it visited Mutsu city in Aomori prefecture in connection with the history of Aizu, and succeeded in making a student realize historical relation in this area. In this paper, the subjects in the school trip as "learning tourism" were considered, referring to this example.

Currently in Japan, the market share of LCC of international air seat capacity is around 20%. Constraint that LCCs suffer from is their maximum flying range of current small-sized aircraft, such as A320ceo. If this could be increased, LCC could come into direct competition for routes currently operated by larger aircraft. To overcome this problem, the A320neo has been specifically designed to fly greater distances due to improved technical superiority. The purpose of this study is to preliminarily investigate the feasibility of A320neo in operating new international air routes and their accompanying potential new destinations to and from Japan. The author identified new routes which could be operated by A320neo through calculation measure of great circle distance. The results in this study clearly show that there is a potential for the A320neo to offer new routes for Japan, particularly from South East Asian destinations.

In order to expand markets for female game fishing, I researched the needs of women who enjoy game fishing. I used questionnaire surveys of female game fishers who took part in activities at a ladies' game fishing class in Atami. As a result I found out that women tend to regard fishing as a fun tourist activity, and that consideration of good hygiene in the fishing field and the increase of customer-friendly events and tours that participants could easily enjoy made it more effective.

Honeymoon is a holiday that holds a special place in one's life, which, in Japan, changed considerably with the development of mass tourism. This study identifies the process of change in honeymoon trends, focusing on the period from the 1950s to the 1970s and clarifies details relating to the process of change in honeymoon destinations, honeymooner behaviors, and accommodation choices, as well as changes in people's perceptions of honeymoons.

The content tourism and “the Holy Land pilgrimage” are established as a general noun, and have been increasingly taken up by the media. This study is intended to consider about the way of regional formation clarifying the utilization of the contents. This paper took up cases which apply contents on railways in Japan, and clarified the effectiveness of regional formation. The examined cases are in the area of tourist resort, streetcar and local train. In addition, this paper took up and analyzed the cases of Kyoto city especially. Furthermore, this paper clarified the problems of regional formation by applying of contents and suggested the ways of solution considering sustainable regional formation.

This study focuses on the process from the tourism experience of “lifestyle migrants” who voluntarily migrate to achieve their ideal lifestyle to immigration decision-making. Previous studies suggest that many lifestyle migrants have experienced local tourism prior to immigration, and that this experience has influenced immigration decision-making. However, few studies specifically demonstrate the processes by which the effects are impacted. To explore the influence of previous tourism experiences on the decision-making processes for migration, the authors of this study conducted a semi-structured interview of immigrants from Okinawa Prefecture. The Modified Grandet Thoery Analysis (M-GTA) approach was used to analyze the results of the interviews. This method generated concepts from verbatim records of interviews and presented the relationship between concepts in the form of a diagram. The results of the analysis suggested that immigrants were impressed and satisfied by tourism experiences before migrating, and that this former encounter became a pull factor for relocation. Dissatisfaction with the existing daily life was a push factor for resettlement in another region. The researchers also found that the final decision to migrate exerted the greatest impact on job decisions, although multiple visits resulted in migration desires and perceived barriers.

The space industry has the peerless possibilities. Especially, the space travel business has the great latent demand. The business has the unlimited possibility for being able to make advantage of the space infinite resources as "New frontier of 21st century. Besides, the wonderful social contribution and the economic efficiency may be given birth to through the business. Concretely speaking, more than ten million can be traveled every year, and the people may obtain great possible employment opportunities for the space stations (hotels) which may be constructed in the future, for example. Under the circumstances, I try to make a research on the possibilities of the space industry and space travel in the near future, and analyze the space travel participants' limit, also. I investigate the number of the space participation limit from the viewpoint of the religious value differentiation between the Christianity & Muslim through the space industry and space travel development studies.

Long-term stress may lead to many types of mental health problems. Short-stay vacations at mental health rejuvenation facilities and stress relief training could improve stress management. Recently, tourism enterprises focus on health care and some of them are specific for stress relief and revitalization. Therefore, this study investigates the effects of these facilities on mental health. We conducted a longitudinal study and collected Japanese employees as participants (N=50) to examine the psychological effects of a 1-night stay at a mental health rejuvenation facility and stress management training on their mental health. The results suggested that a mental health rejuvenation facility as short-stay vacation destinations was effective for maintaining the mental health of employees.

Although the number of foreign visitors to Japan has increased remarkably in recent years, many licensed guides have not been usefully employed. One of the main reasons for this is that there is a problem with the system of producing new work-ready guides in Japan. Currently, the Japanese government only conducts the national examination, and informs successful applicants of a file of associations of licensed guides, which offer several days of basic training to a very limited number of new guides. Most new guides have no chance to take practical training to become a professional guide, and travel companies do not employ them. After examining guide systems in 54 countries and regions, I found that the following points are essential to a system which produces new work-ready guides: (1) A system which issues a license after several years of training, following a final examination (2) A license renewal system to secure the quality of a guide A system with these elements must be employed immediately in Japan in order to increase the number of a high-quality qualified guides, and to meet the strong demand from the inbound tourism industry.

The research of the travel insurance in Japan is not advanced compared with that of other automobile insurances and the fire insurances. The purpose of this research is to clarify the history of the birth of the travel insurance in Japan as the beginning of the travel insurance research .The fact that the invention and the spread of the railway were greatly related to the birth of the travel insurance was known by this research. This thesis wants to cradle the travel insurance by what details, and to arrange to be born in Japan.

Online Travel Agencies (OTA) as new intermediaries have been chosen by consumers as their leading product choice when choosing accommodation since the Japanese OTA was firstly launched in 1996. Hotels and ryokans began to manage their real time room inventories and daily prices although they had limited control of under the traditional distribution agreement known as "Kyotei ryokan & hotel" for a long time. Therefore, the introduction of OTAs provided a productive technological initiative to expand domestic and overseas markets throughout the Japanese lodging industry.

In 2013, the Great Sengu (major transfer of the deity to a new shrine building) was done at Izumo Taisha Shrine, for the first time in 60 years. Matsue Branch of the Bank of Japan estimated the tourist consumption in 2013 in Shimane Prefecture to be JPY25.8 billion. As for Matsue-city, the number of visitors to 9 main sightseeing facilities increased by 14%, during Golden Week (Japanese holiday season in early May) compared with previous year. However, we can't rest at ease. It was found that tourist visits are shifting to "matchmaking" places related to the legend of Izumo, from traditional facilities around Matsue Castle. We should not rely solely on attracting young ladies exploiting the recent history boom among them. We need to review the history of the city, and turn the existing resources into working tourist attractions. This study discussed how Matsue has developed as a tourist city in modern period.

In this study, which focuses on the migration of young people into the central area of Onomichi City, which symbolizes the energy of the city, we investigated (1) the whole scheme and mechanism of such migration, (2) the significance of building a human-scale city as successor of a commercial city with 850 years of prosperous history, tradition, and culture, and (3) modeling the migration mechanism in terms of laws concerning inheritance, promotion, and urban planning and the possibility of spreading this model to other regions. The findings of this study showed that young people had settled into the hilly area of Onomichi City, verifying the significance of building a human-scale city, that is, building a practical tourist-friendly destination that values migration and the everyday life of residents. Our findings also showed that the laws of inheritance, promotion, and urban planning are implemented in Kamiyama in Tokushima Prefecture, which has successfully attracted many satellite office projects, and in Sasayama City in Hyogo Prefecture, which is famous for the renovation of old houses, verifying the adaptability of the model. This suggests that the model can be introduced to other regions.

Along with the amendment of Immigration Control and Refugee Recognition Act, migrant workers will be expected to increase for the hotel industry in Japan. Based on previous studies in the foreign hotel industry that have already accepted many migrants, a qualitative research was conducted into a domestic hotel chain in Japan to clarify practical issues with regard to migrant workers and future research issues.

There are 9 cities which have established the “Act on Construction as An International Tourism City” during the period of postwar reconstruction. They emphasized that they were especially important cities for national policy. The main purpose of establishing the acts was to gain financial support and free transfer of land for urban planning. In order to establish the act, the constitutional law required a referendum in each city, after passing the National Assembly. As for Matsue, it has enacted the “Act on Construction of Matsue as An International Culture and Tourism City”, having the approval of 76% of the referendum in March 1951. The aims of this paper are to clarify the characteristics of the act and the residents' consciousness towards the enactment.

Tourist resources in Muroran, Hokkaido are night view of factories. However, its popularity is low, tourists are decreasing.<br>Therefore, in this paper, grasp the actual condition of night view of factories in Muroran and clarify the issue by questionnaire.<br>From the analysis, grasped the following:<br>1) Muroran's tourists are decreasing. However, the number of guests on the night view tour bus has increased, the tourists' repeat rate and satisfaction are high. So, Muroran night view of factories has potential.<br>2) Websites for tourists are effective.<br>3) High-profile hot springs such as Noboribetsu Onsen and Toyako Onsen are near Muroran. Therefore, guests stay at that hot springs and don't stay Muroran.<br>4) The reputation for traffic to night view spots are bad.<br>From the above, it's necessary to consider that construction of traffic to the night view spots, attracting customers by the website, attracting customers using nearby famous hot springs.

Museums are a major attraction in tourist areas in Japan. This study paid attention to tourist areas that have a cluster of museums, and the analysis in this paper found that community activities are a key to making museums attractive for tourists. A case study of the Izu-kogen area, Shizuoka Prefecture, and the Azumino area of Nagano Prefecture found that community activities by both long-time residents and newcomers have promoted the profile of their area and thus played an important role in forming a cluster of museums and making art a tourist attraction.
