優秀な学生、より上を目指す学生をさらに高いレベルに引き上げる目的で立ち上げたデザインチーム DESIGN SOIL は、教員と学生がともにデザイナーとして参加し、質の高い展示会への出展を軸に活動している。DESIGN SOIL では、参加学生に学生としてではなくプロのデザイナーとして作品を発表し、展示会に臨むことを要求している。2011年度は、家具産業が抱える輸送コストの問題に取り組むべく、「SOUVENIR.機内持ち込みができるパッケージサイズの家具、インテリアエレメント.」をテーマとして作品制作を行い、Salone Satellite 2011 やTIDE EXHIBITION 2011 などの最高峰の選抜展に出展を果たした。展示会では、多くの批評、賞賛を得ることができた。多数の先鋭的な雑誌媒体などに掲載されたのも、純粋に作品が評価されたということであり、大きな成果である。最高峰の展示会への出展を目標としているため、参加学生たちの作品の質は概ね向上した。展示会への参加を通して、大学のカリキュラムだけでは経験を積むことが難しい、展示会でのプレゼンテーションの仕方、取り組む姿勢を目の当たりにし、意識改革ができたことは非常に重要な成果である。次年度以降も活動を継続し、教育の方法論の確立を目指したい。"DESIGN SOIL" is a design team which has launched with the aim of raising talented or ambitious students to higher level. The selected students and young teachers participate as a designer to it and the activities is based on exhibiting in high-quality exhibitions. We require the students to make a design and participate in exhibitions as not just a student, but a professional designer.We developed theme of "SOUVENIR . furniture or interior elements which could be dismantled and stored in a package within the hand-luggage size limit allowed by airlines .", and we have participated in top-level exhibitions 'Salone Satellite 2011' and 'TIDE EXHIBITION 2011'.

本報告は、アジアンデザイン研究所の活動としてアジアの山車文化についてデザイン的視点から調査、研究を進めるものである。研究所では開設以来、アジア各地域でみられる祭礼の多様な山車の造形的特徴、象徴性、世界観、その仕組みと社会や環境との関係性などについて、継続的に取り組んできた。本年度は、開催を予定していた国際シンポジウムを都合でとりやめ、そのための準備などを中心に活動を行なった。アジアの舟形の山車についてその造形的な特徴として鳥や龍(蛇)などが多用されるが、そのための研究会を開催した。またタイ南部のチャプクラ祭の現地調査を実施し、ナーガ(蛇)のモチーフで飾られた舟形山車、ミャンマーのインレー湖でのパウンドーウー祭にでる伝説の鳥「カラウェイ」を模した鳥形の黄金船など現地での取材も実施した。また、国内の太鼓台調査(岡山県倉敷市乙島の千歳楽)、中国浙江省前童鎮の鼓亭調査も継続して行ない、さらに理解を深めた。これらの一連の活動により、アジアのデザインについていくつかの重要な知見を得ることができた。これらの成果をもとにさらに継続的な調査を続け、社会構造、空間構造とも関連づけて、総体的に祭礼の仕組みと山車の造形を把握していく予定である。This report deals with the main research theme of Research Institute of Asian Design (RIAD), focusing the cultures of mountain floats in Asia from design-centered approach. We want to make clear design technique (language) of mountain floats from their wide variety of forms, symbolic meanings, cosmology and their relationship of society and natural environments.We made some preparations for 2nd international symposium, because the symposium was postponed next year. We could find frequently characteristic motifs of sacred bird and dragon (or snake) in mountain floats of Asia. So, overseas researches are made at southern region of Thailand and central district of Myanmar in order to certificate the symbolic meanings and structures of float.We had also investigations of new year festival in Qiantong, Ninbo city, China and Senzairaku in Okayama Prefecture, which is another type of mountain floats in Japan.

本稿は、瀬戸内国際芸術祭2013 春の部(2013年3月20日[春分の日]~4月21日[日])の一環として参加した「沙弥島アートプロジェクト by 神戸芸術工科大学」で行われた全ての活動について、成果物の画像を交えながらその内容を述べたものである。成果物として挙げられるのは、次の4つ、①香川県坂出市沙弥島内3カ所(西ノ浜、ナカンダ浜、旧沙弥小中学校)を舞台にした本学の教員(助手・実習助手含む)6名による作品展示・建築作品の公開、②準備期間中に行った地元の子供・親子を対象にしたワークショップ、③会期中に行った一般客及び地元住人を対象にしたイベント、④大学院の選択科目のひとつである大学院総合プロジェクト「沙弥島アートプロジェクト」において、担当教員の指導のもと、学生が行ったポスターや周辺地図などの印刷物およびスタッフ用パーカーなどのグッズ企画・制作である。This report assesses all the activities carried out in 'Shamijima Art Project by Kobe Design University' which was held as a part of Setouchi Triennale 2013 Spring term (20th March and 21st April 2013), together with the images of the project outcomes. The following four types of work have been completed in the project; ① Works of art and architecture created by six teachers of KDU(including assistants and a research assistant) in three different venues (Nishinohama Beach, Nakandahama Beach and Fomer-Shami Elementary and Junior High School), ②Workshops for the local people held in the preparation period, ③ Events for both the local and general visitors during the Triennale period, and ④ Poster, map and other graphic design works and goods productions such as staff costume created by students under the supervision in the one of the Kobe Design University graduate school's optional subjects which is also called 'Shamijima Art Project'.
