The aim of this study is to clarify the spatial composition of contemporary Japanese urban houses in terms of relations between interior rooms and exterior rooms. Exterior rooms are defined as exterior space limited by architectual compositional elements. First relations between fellow exterior rooms are analyzed in two levels of composition: arrangement and connection of fellow exterior rooms. Secondly relations between interior rooms and exterior rooms are analyzed in two levels of composition: arrangement and connection of interior rooms and exterior rooms. Then we found 13 types of comnosition. Comparing every type, characters of composilion are clarified From these considerations, we found that expression of composition, which network interior rooms and exterior rooms in three dimensions, formed in contemporary Japanese urban houses.

The aim of this study is to clarify how contemporary Japanese architects describe the appearance of their housing works in the composition of the text. Initially, terms about the design of houses are categorized into three groups; condition of the project, spatial operation by the architect, and the efficiency as a result of the operation. Secondly, relation of each category is analyzed. Finally, "description form of architectural appearance" and characteristic types of description are extracted.; “responding to condition”, “placing a high premium on spatial operation”, “clarifying rationality of the relation between condition, operation and efficiency”, “clarifying efficiency to condition”.

The aim of this study is to clarify the spatial composition of exterior void space in contemporary architecture forming a street wall. That composition is formed by relationship between arrangement of exterior void space and connection with spaces without site and inside of building. Arrangement is integration of void's position on outside volumes and division of outside volumes. Connection has two ways that accessibility or openness to the eye. Comparing the patterns of composition, they are classified into three groups; passage, end, extension of inside space. An alternative composition is found according to opposite of these groups.
