External forcings among the different phases of the Coupled Model Intercomparison Project (CMIP) vary considerably, but their impacts have not been extensively investigated yet. This study compares the impacts of CMIP5 and CMIP6 forcings on model stability and the 20th-century global warming and El-Niño Southern Oscillation (ENSO) based on the Pre-Industrial control (PI-control) and historical runs of the Flexible Global Ocean–Atmosphere–Land System Model: Grid-point Version 2 (FGOALS-g2). Results indicate that CMIP6 forcings result in a larger climate drift and a lower climatological global average surface temperature (GAST) than those of CMIP5 in PI-control runs. In historical runs, stronger 20th-century warming trends occur during the periods 1910-1940 and 1970-2005 using CMIP6 forcings, which are closer to the HadCRUT than those of the CMIP5 forcings simulation. A stronger spurious warming trend in the CMIP6 results in an evolution of GAST that is less consistent with the HadCRUT dataset than that in the CMIP5 during 1940-1970. Among all forcings, GHGs and aerosol forcings play the dominant roles in differences in GAST, particularly in the Northern Hemisphere. In both the PI-control and historical runs, a larger ENSO amplitude and smaller seasonality are simulated in CMIP6 than in CMIP5.

Colopexy was accomplished in eight healthy mixed-breed dogs by use of a 3-portal laparoscopic technique, without major intraoperative and postoperative complications. A permanent adhesion between the colon and the abdominal wall was observed. Concentrations of acute-phase protein C-reactive protein (CRP) were measured in serum as a marker of systemic inflammation postoperatively, and no relevant increase in CRP concentrations.

Purpose: We compared the performances of a Bayesian estimation method and oscillation index singular value decomposition (oSVD) deconvolution for predicting final infarction using data previously obtained from 10 cynomolgus monkeys with permanent unilateral middle cerebral artery (MCA) occlusion.Methods: We conducted baseline perfusion-weighted imaging 3 hours after MCA occlusion and generated time to peak, first moment of transit, cerebral blood flow, cerebral blood volume, and mean transit time maps using Bayesian and oSVD methods. Final infarct volume was determined by follow-up diffusion-weighted imaging (DWI) scanned 47 hours after MCA occlusion and from histological specimens. We used a region growing technique with various thresholds to determine perfusion abnormality volume. The best threshold was defined when the mean perfusion volume matched the mean final infarct volume, and Pearson's correlation coefficients (r) and intraclass correlations (ICC) were calculated between perfusion abnormality and final infarct volume at that threshold. These coefficients were compared between Bayesian and oSVD using Wilcoxon's signed rank test. P-value < 0.05 was considered a statistically significant difference.Results: The Pearson's correlation coefficients were larger but not significantly different for the Bayesian technique than oSVD in 4 of 5 perfusion maps when final infarct was determined by specimen volume (P = 0.104). When final infarct volume was defined by DWI volume, all perfusion maps had a significantly higher correlation coefficient by Bayesian technique than oSVD (P = 0.043). For ICC, all perfusion maps had higher value in Bayesian than oSVD calculation, and significant differences were observed both on specimen- and DWI-defined volumes (P = 0.043 for both).Conclusion: The Bayesian method is more reliable than oSVD deconvolution in estimating final infarct volume.

Kidney transplantation remains the best treatment for patients with end-stage kidney disease, and it could partially mitigate systemic disorders of mineral and bone metabolism caused by secondary hyperparathyroidism. However, persistent hyperparathyroidism is still observed in 30-60% of patients 1 year after kidney transplantation, leading to impairment of allograft function and a disturbance of mineral metabolism. The timing of parathyroidectomy varies among transplant centers because the possible negative effects of parathyroidectomy on allograft outcomes are still unclear. This review provides a comprehensive and detailed overview of the natural course of hyperparathyroidism following kidney transplantation and the effects of the timing and extent of parathyroidectomy on allograft function. It aims to provide useful information for surgeons to propose an appropriate intervention strategy to break the vicious cycle of post-kidney transplantation hyperparathyroidism and deterioration of allograft function.
