「2010年までに訪日外客1000万人」を目標に始まったビジット・ジャパン・キャンペーン(以下、VJCと省略する。)は、当初順調に訪日外客数を増加させたものの、2008年に発生したリーマン・ショックの影響を受け、2010年の訪日外客数は861万人にとどまった。しかし、訪日客の動向を市場別にみると、中国、タイ、シンガポールのように訪日客を2002年の倍以上増加させた市場がある一方、英国などは減少させており、市場によって成果に大きな違いがある。VJCの成果を評価する際には、このような市場別の視点が重要である。本論は、VJCの成果を踏まえた今後の施策の検討をするために、訪日客の動向を市場別、期間別に分析したものである。

This thesis is going to discuss on the present situation and the problems of Nepal tourism industry. This research has been conducted using secondary data and the personal hearing by this researcher to the some related persons of Nepal tourism industry and the field experience for long years of researcher in Nepal travel and tourism sector. Mainly the research observed to Nepal tourism development stages and government policies and tried to clear out the present major problems of Nepal tourism industry.

The obligation to consider security is enshrined in Japanese law since the 1975 ruling. The obligation applies to Japanese universities when they organise study abroad programmes. Thus, if there is a fatality or injury sustained during the programme the university must show that they have not neglected their duty of care. Otherwise they are liable to pay compensation. There has been a study to show how universities should cater for the security of students abroad and the different responsibilities of the university and the travel agency. Actual cases were used to show how travel agencies could collaborate with universities to provide effective security for the students.

This paper shows how tourism can contribute to alleviating poverty in Indonesia, where although the poverty rate has decreased to 13.3% recently, two-thirds of the population remains in the rural agricultural sector. Its results show that the expansion of hotels and restaurants improves income significantly among the poor. This can be found when we focus on induced indirect income. There are many related industries, including agriculture, that provide materials and services to support tourism. Therefore, the expansion of tourism increases output, and then income. This income is captured by the embodied income coefficient, showing induced income embodied in final demand such as tourism consumption. Input-output analysis makes it easier to obtain the coefficient than the usual life-cycle assessment. Ordinary input-output analysis, however, cannot show this indirect income because it does not use the coefficient. Therefore, when applying the traditional method, tourism's capabilities of resolving poverty tend to be underestimated.

Currently Japan is infested with products which are introduced as “local” products while those in fact do not contain local ingredients taking advantage of the fact that there is no indication of such ingredients in the country. I point out that there is a high possibility of causing troubles in tourism, thus propose the enhancement measures. I have addressed the Mexican tequila in order to consider the enhancement measures, and have resulted that Japan should have a public certification of region provided and that the system which divides “100% local” and “Not-100% local products” would be effective.

This paper argued and tried to discuss the architecture and product characteristics of the inclusive tour called "packaged tour" in Japan from the point of product architecture scheme, "modular or integral," "open or closed" and so on. The results of this paper were (1) the architecture and product characteristics of the inclusive tour could be analyzed by the product architecture scheme, (2) "skeleton type" product which is consist of only hotel and air have open-modular architecture, (3) functional elements of inclusive tour such as hotel or air have opened interface, (4) inclusive tour is expected to have customer's participation on adding function or service of travel. After the discussion, relating and referring to the conclusion of this paper, some more hypotheses and some subjects for future studies were shown.

Whether or not business models change, the travel industry is essentially a service industry. The Japanese travel industry must, first and foremost, keep customers satisfied. To do this it has to develop new business models, along Japanese lines, with this in mind. Graduate employment rates will improve if this happens. It considers theories of how to promote cooperation between leading travel companies and faculties or departments of tourism at universities, based on examples from the company for which the author works.

A promotion of tourism by utilizing contents has been activated. The film tourism is a typical example of this. Utilizing the animation has been actively carried out by now. By investigating the cases, such as Takayama, Gifu prefecture and Oarai town, Ibaraki prefecture, this study show a case of regional development by utilizing the contents in Kyoto. This study also shows that the animation forms the awareness of habitants to the contents and would have the effectiveness to the regional development utilizing environmental resources.
