This paper describes a mechanical energy recovery system with flywheel and CVT. In recent years, greenhouse effect is brought to international attention, which is closely related to cars. Improvement of the car which discharges greenhouse gas is desired. And so, in order to achieve hybrid vehicle we studied energy recovery system, which used the flywheel and CVT. We studied the effectiveness of energy recovery experiment using a real vehicle, but it's energy efficiency was smaller than assumed one. In this study, in order to achieve the efficiency improvement, we clear up the cause of low efficiency. Especially to examination Flywheel Energy Recovery System only, we built the testing system. By the experiment we revealed the characteristic of system and the problem of CVT.

This paper proposes a estimation method of dynamic forces between 4 wheels and road using strain information of steering nuckle. First, we propose a vehicle-tyre model. It contains nonlinear caracteristics of tyre by Magic Formula function. In addition, we design multi-body dynamics suspension model. And we conduct the coupled simulation to obtain the boundary condition of steering nuckle. Then, in order to decide the optimum positions of strain sensors to estimate the forces, FEM simulations are conducted.

<p>This paper deals with response behavior and rollover resistance of heavy duty truck in cornering. We focus on the connection type vehicle that consists of one tractor and one trailer. The vehicle is expressed by 7 nonlinear equations of motion and 2 constraint conditions of connecting point. The equations include the nonlinear property of the tire lateral force. We use the rate of decrease of wheel load as the index for judging rollover. We perform parameter study about the eccentric distance of center of gravity, the running speed and so on, and investigate the degree of the risk of rollover.</p>

The three dimensional grain mapping technique for polycrystalline material, called X-ray diffraction contrast tomography (DCT), was conducted in SPring-8 (Super Photon ring-8 GeV), which is the brightest synchrotron radiation facility in Japan, and the conditions of measurement and data processing procedure have been obtained. Developed technique was applied to a commercially pure iron, and an austenitic stainless steel. The shape and location of grain could be determined by DCT using the apparatus in a beam line of SPring-8. Total misorientation of an individual crystalographic plane of a specific grain during fatigue test of the steels were measured. In fatigue test of the stainless steel, thetotal misorientastion of {111} planes increased with number of cyccles. Among {111} planes, the amount of change depended on Schmid factor, i.e., the change was higher for planes with larger Schmid factor. For the commercially pure iron, the total misorientastion of {110} planes increased with number of cyccles. The amount of change, however, did not depend on Schmid factor because of pencile-glide. It is well known that a rotating stall in vaneless diffuser occurs at low flow rate. This report treats the rotating stall in a vaneless diffuser coupled with a impeller by using a commercial code with the standard κ-ε turbulence model. It was found that the rotating stall in the vaneless diffuser could be simulated, and the onset of the rotating stall in the impeller depends on the gradient of the impeller pressure performance curve. In case with a whirling impeller, whirling speed has influence on the number of stall cells in the diffuser

Blending pyrolitic oil (or Waste Plastic Disposal, called WPD for short) produced from household and industrial plastic wastes with bitumen, which is 70% (v) of orimulsion, reduces the viscosity of the oil. The experimental results indicated that, the WPD mixing ratio of 20% (v) reduces the bitumen's viscosity from more than 500 cSt to 20 cSt at 50℃. The blended oil has been applied to a small size high-speed single-acting 4 stroke diesel engine (14 kW, 2200rpm) without preheating the oil. The engine test with non-preheated blended bitumen has proved the possibility of WPD-blended bitumen as a fuel for diesel engines. In order to improve the engine performance the far-infrared filter has been tested. The engine test result has shown the good effect of the filter on the engine performance.

In recent year, spur gears have come to be used widely as transmisson gears of motorcars. Therefore, it is one of the most important subjects in gear fields to develop gears which are effective for vibration and noise of transmission. However, there have been very few studies on meshing transmission error of gear used inverse problems, and many problems still remain to be solved. In this paper, taking up the research for estimation of meshing transmission error of the spur gear used the root stress, the auther proposed a technique for estimation of meshing transmission error in meshing of spur gear. From those estimated results, it is found that the calculated value of MTE has the simillar tendency to experimental result.

A winglet is one of the wing-tip plates to prevent the formation of wing-tip vortices which cause a decrease of Cl (Lift Coefficient) / Cd (Drag Coefficient). The ground effect causes an increase of Cl/Cd of airfoils in proximity to the ground. Therefore, the winglets and the ground effect have the same function. Birdman's glider or WIG (wing in ground) use both of them. Aerodynamics characteristics of the winglets in the ground effect are, however, not well-known. The purpose of this paper is to study the optimum design of winglets in the ground effect by computational fluid dynamics. In concluding, the best angle is a dihedral angle of 45 degrees for winglets in ground effect.
