In this paper, local polynominal regression is proposed as a metamodel for the optimal design. Local polynominal regression is often used for smoothing. Smoothing and approximation are applied for the different purpose, however these two methods are based on the similar theory. Therefore local polynominal regression is forecasted to be able to approximate functions. So the theory of local polynominal regression is extended to multivariate predictors for optimal design, and its effectiveness for approximation is verified. Next, more suitable optimization method that uses characteristics of local polynominal regression is suggested. Additionally, the comparison of local polynominal regression and other metamodels shows its features. As a result of the consideration, next four points are clarified. (1)LOESS that uses local quadratic regression and tricube weight function is most suitable for the approximation. (2)The metamodels based on local polynominal regression are able to use for the structural optimization and its characteristics are available for the optimization based on the gradient. (3)The accuracy of local polynominal regression is better than Kriging and RBF interpolation when the sample size is small. However, the property is reversed when the sample size is large. (4)The accuracy of local polynominal regression is better than Kriging and RBF interpolation when the response has noises. The fact shows local polynominal regression is suitable for the metamodel of montecarlo simulations and experiments.

Structure borne noise is dominant in vehicle interior noise as frequencies below approximately 300Hz. Spindle force is a critical factor in structure borne noise for vehicle interior noise. To research the vibration characteristic of a rolling tire is essential for prediction of spindle force. This paper describes vibration analysis of a tire on the static and operational condition. Firstly, the surface vibration velocities are measured in the operational condition to comprehend the vibration behavior of a rolling tire using the scanning Laser Doppler Vibrometers. Secondly, the tire vibration model based on the cylindrical shell theory is build up. The basic equation, including the effects of the initial tension and the Coriolis force due to rotation, is derived by thin rotating cylindrical shell model and Hamilton principal. The results of the experiment and the theoretical analysis for a rolling tire are presented. Consequently, it is found that same shape of traveling-wave modes occur for a rolling tire, and the excited frequency of forward wave is different from that of backward wave. Finally, it is revealed that whether the rotation effect have affect on the vibration characteristics of a rolling tire.

At present, many products are demanded both facilities and comforts. It is necessary for realizing comforts to measure human sensitivities. Therefore, many various sensory evaluation methods are proposed. Scheffe's paired comparison is one of these sensory evaluation methods, and is used widely. Especially, Nakaya's method, that is developed based on Schffe's paired comparison, evaluates human sensitivities and enables to add a relative score to the samples. However, the conventional Nakaya's method can separate the main effects, differences among individuals and combination effects. If there will be other factors that have an effect on the samples' evaluation, the effects will be neglected in Nakaya's method. Therefore the main effect tends to be hard to be detected by Nakaya's method. In this paper, we propose a new sensory evaluation method that enables to separate multiple effects. As this new method enables separate many effects, the relative error variance value is smaller, and it will make us to search factors easily and correctly that affect human sensitivities. This new method is applied to the loudspeakers' psycho-acoustic evaluation, and it is clarified this new method is useful for sensory evaluation when the difference is small and when there are a few panelists.
