Making thematic maps with drawing software packages on personal computers will bring a significant contribution to the education of geography and to the analysis of micro-scale landuse maps there by making them more available and simplifying their operation. This study demon-strates the method of plotting a landuse map with a drawing software package and analyzes the completed map with an image processing program. The plotting methods are focused on (1) draw-ings of parallel lines, (2) partition of land plots, (3) selection of fonts, and (4) modification and selec-tion of patterns for land plots. The analysis also confirms, the measurement of land plots and the procedures for improving their precision. These techniques for plotting and analyzing a landuse map provide a basis for making all other thematic maps to be printed out in gray scale.

Industrial sightseeing is noteworthy in diversification of sightseeing needs. It is defined as a sightseeing course to include at least one industrial heritage. Muroran City had grown up as a heavy industrial city and a port city until 1971. The present situation and issues of industrial sightseeing in Muroran City were analyzed through the questionnaire to participants of factories sightseeing event. Experience to make something in young generation, combination of industrial heritages and sightseeing boat to see natural coastal viewpoints, watching whales or dolphins and restaurants were requested and should be considered to make program industrial sightseeing.

Kyphosis causes decline in respiratory and circulatory functions owing to compresses of internal organs. The purpose of this study is to develop a posture keep assist device. The device is constructed with multiple resin components and McKibben type artificial rubber muscle. This device at initial state has a flexibility because the resin components are separated. On the other hand, the resin component can be connected by pressurized artificial muscle. The shape of device in which all resin components are connected imitates spine-curve to fit human back. So, the proposed device can retain entire range of trunk. Target pressure to correct posture is determined from the mathematical model of artificial muscle. In this paper, the structure of device is described, and control method to retain posture based on artificial muscle model is discussed. Finally, effectiveness of the device is verified from experiments in which subject wears this device actually. We reveal correcting trunk posture by using the device from the results.

In this paper, the associated structure of the compulsory education expense government contribution system, and the system by which the prefecture provides the salary of the staff of municipalities was examined. The paper considers the basic issue of the school personnel management of city, town or village-owned elementary and junior high schools and the salary mechanisms. Structural contradictions existed between the management and the expense burden of the elementary school before World War II, and this led to the creation of the compulsory education expense government contribution system. Moreover, the centralization system whereby the prefecture provides the salary of the staff of municipalities was approved in 1940. The compulsory education expense government contribution system was abolished in the educational reform period after World War II under the decentralization policy for education, and the authority to appoint and dismiss was moved from the local secretary to municipal boards of education. However, the system by which the prefecture provides the salary of the staff of municipalities was maintained. The compulsory education expense government contribution system was revived by the process of the review of the educational reform after World War II, and the authority to appoint and dismiss was moved from the municipal boards of education to the prefectural board of education. A further development was that the compulsory education expense government contribution system was reduced and that the authority to appoint and dismiss the teacher was moved to municipalities under the decentralization of education as the educational policy of neo liberalism after the 1980ʼs.

In our previous study, we found that FetCO2 (PaCO2) increased during kendo with vocalization. Cerebral blood flow may increase during kendo exercises because PaCO2 has cerebral vasodilator effects. In this study, we measured the blood flow of the common carotid artery during intermittent bicycle ergometer exercise with vocalization as a basic study to elucidate the physiological characteristics of kendo. As a result, at the 80% V・O2peak with vocalization (same load as “kakari-keiko”), we observed a significant increase in FetCO2 (P = 0.022) and blood flow in the common carotid artery (P = 0.040). At the 60%V・O2peak with vocalization (same load as “kirikaeshi”), there was no significant increase in FetCO2; however, we observed a significant increase in blood flow in the common carotid artery (P = 0.035). In addition, in an ultrasonic image of the common jugular vein during exercise with vocalization, we observed the over-swelling of an internal jugular vein with partial blood regurgitation. This indicated that blood flow was temporarily stagnant. These results suggest that the increase in common carotid arteryblood flow was induced during exercise with vocalization. The increase in FetCO2 caused by vocalization, however, was not considered to be the main factor. One of the factors causing the increased common carotid artery blood flow was revealed to be related to an increasing-canceling of intrathoracic pressure due to vocalization-no-vocalization.
