How does human emotion change with music listening? This study investigated the effects of music listening on unpleasant feeling states. In this research, music had three types of affective value (HAPPY, SAD, HEALING). The affective values of HAPPY and SAD music were measured by AVSM in Pre-test. And HEALING music was chosen among what are generally sold as healing and 1/f music. As the first procedure, subjects were induced the unpleasant feeling states by watching video (what was edited in about 10 minutes) and checked video manipulations (That is feeling states of subject before music listening.). After that they listened to the music (HAPPY music, SAD music, HEALING music), and measured the emotional states after music listening by MMS. And then the affective value of music was measured by AVSM. Subjects were in total 66 participants (SAD group : 22 participants, HAPPY group : 22 participants, HEALING group : 22 participants). The results indicated that unpleasant feeling was reduced after music listening compared with before listen to the music. And it was suggested that HAPPY music reduce unpleasant feelings especially. As a result, HAPPY music will be effective for changing temporary unpleasant feeling, environmental states and mood states. Further, feeling states changed each of music listening. Moreover, it was also suggested that each music could be measured as emotional quality i.e. music has its different affective value.
