This study investigated the relationships between personality prototypes and life skills to understand the characteristics of Resilients, Overcontrollers, Undercontrollers, and Not identifiables. Hierarchical cluster analyses using Ward's method and one-way ANOVA with multiple comparisons using Holm's method indicated that Resilients tended to adopt adaptive behaviors and thoughts, and Overcontrollers had similar tendencies as Resilients. Additionally, Undercontrollers showed a tendency to adopt active interpersonal behaviors and thoughts, and Not identifiables tended to adopt accepting interpersonal behaviors and thoughts. These results provide new findings on the characteristics of individuals classified as different personality prototypes.

This study investigated the dual processing model of psychological resilience among university athletes. Participants were 162 university athletes (male=55, female=107, mean age=19.7, SD=1.2), who were asked to complete a questionnaire containing questions on psychological resilience, self-esteem, burnout, self-evaluation of competitive performance, and athletic growth. Results of structure equation modeling indicated that psychological resilience was negatively associated with burnout via self-esteem and positively associated with athletic growth through self-evaluation of competitive performance. The findings of this study support our hypothesis that university athletes' psychological resilience promotes growth and reduces burnout.

This study aimed to develop a psychological resilience model for university athletes (PRMUA). University athletes (<i>N</i>=377; 188 men and 189 women, Mean age=19.70 years, <i>SD</i>=1.20) participated in the study. They completed a questionnaire comprising of socio-demographic questions and questions on resilience, resilience efficacy, stressors, stress response, and self-esteem. Structural equation modeling was used to examine the hypothetical mediation model of PRMUA, which indicated that fit indices of the model satisfied statistical requirements (GFI=.99, AGFI=.94, CFI=.99, RMSEA=.08, AIC=48.32, BCC=48.93). Moreover, each path of PRMUA had a significant influence on each variable. Findings of this study partially supported our hypotheses regarding PRMUA. Further research is needed to clarify the nature of resilience. Moreover, longitudinal research is needed to develop practical uses for the model, such as increasing and predicting the resilience of athletic club members.
