One of the hazards in performing vestibular rehabilitation therapy is the lack of an adequate evidence base. McDonnell and Hillier reported a large cohort study that summarized all the available articles regarding evidence-based vestibular rehabilitation therapy and found that only 29 out of 1586 articles were actually evidence-based. This was a striking result, and unfortunately none of the 29 evidence-based reports were from Japan. However, several applications for vestibular rehabilitation have recently been accepted by the Grants-in-Aid for Scientific Research program of the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science. Thus, evidence-based vestibular rehabilitation therapy has just started. This report will discuss how to perform evidence-based vestibular rehabilitation therapy.

ミリ波用電子部品やICパケージの開発のため, 誘電体材料のミリ波複素誘電率測定技術が求められている。すでに導波管励起誘電体平板共振器法, NRDガイドを入出力線路とするTE_<02δ>誘電体共振器を用いた測定法, ガウシアンビーム共振器を利用した方法が報告されている。文献(2)ではtanδ測定の前提として, 導体板の導電率を, 誘電体リング共振器と誘電体円柱共振器を同軸状に配置した共振器によって測定している。本研究ではNRDガイド励起TE_<0m1>誘電体共振器と支持台のないTE_<0mδ>誘電体共振器の組み合わせによる高精度なミリ波導電率測定法と, TE_<0m1>共振器による複素誘電率測定法について検討する。

Along with Epley's canalith repositioning maneuver, the Semont maneuver is also recognized as an effective physical therapy for benign paroxysmal positional vertigo. However, the details of this maneuver are not well known, presumably because of the obscurity of the original description by Semont et al. In Japan, the “Semont liberatory maneuver,” as described by Brandt, is accepted as the “original” Semont maneuver. However, the two maneuvers are not identical. The aim of this paper was to reproduce the original procedure of Semont's as presented by A. Semont himself at the 10th Nagoya Otorhinolaryngological Forum held in Nagoya, Japan, in 2006. This lecture clarified some obscure points in the original paper; however, the procedure described at the forum was not a detailed reproduction of the original Semont maneuver, but was somewhat more complicated. Also of note, Semont decisively denied the cupulolithiasis theory and explained the usefulness of his maneuver according to the canalolithiasis theory.

児童の"能動的な学び"をみるための前段階として, 第5学年の児童を対象に, 理科の自由研究の実態について検討した。その結果, 教師の支援・援助がない状態で, 理科の自由研究をした児童は, 全体の約17%であった。さらに, 自由研究をした児童の内で, 自発的にした児童は約7割であった。この結果は, 6年生を対象にした調査結果と比べると, いずれも若干高い傾向にあった。また, 自由研究をした児童は, 自己評価も肯定傾向にあることが示された。これは, 6年生でも同様の傾向[9]がみられたが, 5年生の場合, 「がんばった」という項目が高いことが分かった。To obtain an information on the pupils' active learning attitude the responses for the inquiries concerning the pupils' free-hand assignments of the science lesson of the summer vacation in fifth grade of the elementary schools have been examined, so far. From the analysis of the inquiries almost all pupils more than 90 percents of total examinees of 170 pupils, without teachers' supports or encouragements, did not show marked interest in accomplishment of their free-hand assignments of science lessons. It has been that only six percents of total pupils have been able to accomplish volantarily their free hand assignments. Pupils' characteristics for active learning attitude were revealed that pupils had volantarily accomplished their free-hand assignments have shown affirmative responses to impose self evaluation in science lessons on themselves. It is also confirmed that this affirmative response of the fifth grade pupils is similar to the previous results obtained for the sixth grade pupils. The marked responses in the present case have been found in their attitude of "tough it out".
