This paper describes the two experimental studies on the cognitive issues concerning air traffic control (ATC). In the first experiment, the effectiveness of the communication style adopted in ATC has been confirmed through the communication experiments. In the second experiment, the possibility of controlling the cognitive control modes proposed by Hollnagel has been investigated based on the ATC simulation.
