The purpose of this paper is to examine the spatial structure of the monthly market held on the precincts of Kitano-Tenmangu in Kyoto City by the design survey and the research of the human behavior. As a results of this analysis, it could conclude as follows; (1) This market consists of eight zones, and these zones are more divided to four religious zones and four living-goods zones. (2) It has the religious axis made by the sequence of this stands with the three-dimensional forms, and is connected to the surrounding spaces by the two plaza-type zones. (3) As the spatial structure of his market is made by the combinations of the forms and the arrangements of the stands and the varieties of goods, it is considerable that there are techniques making the space adapted to the environment and the needs of the users without professional designer.

The purpose of this paper is to figure out historically and theoretically the character of public retail and wholesale center in around the 1920s in Kyoto by focusing on the context of modern commercial and distributive policy change and the context of modern city management and planning. It could be concluded as follows; (1)Public retail was set first as the one of social work programs for the poor in down town, but the character was getting pilot of a good modern retail, and was set strategically around developing suburb in Kyoto. (2)Particularly, after wholesale center was set in 1927, not only public retail but also private retail and wholesale places were all organized and governed in modern hierarchical system of both modern commercial and distributive policy and city management. (3)This change of commercial and distributive policy was related to and supported by the modern city management policy and new city planning in Kyoto.

The purpose of this paper is to figure out the characteristics and subjects in the Flea-Markets for the community revitalization on the precincts in Kyoto City, through the research for the recognition of the constituents (the administrators, the managers, the stall keepers, the visitors) about the three Flea-Markets. As the results of this analysis, it could conclude as follows. (1) In the Flea-Market, the stall keepers and the visitors share the meanings of the Flea-Market as the place for the communications and the recreations, and (2) the stalls of the amateurs play the important roles to make this characteristic. (3) It is needed for keeping these characteristics to accept the many kinds of the stalls, not like as the conventional stalls organization. And (4) it is needed for the management of the Flea-Market and making the varieties of the goods in the Flea-Market to make use of the network of the stall keepers across the communities, to make use of the resources of the community.

本論は、地域コミュニティ活性化を目的としたフリーマーケットについて、京都市内の3つの事例を挙げ、構成主体(空間管理者・主催者・出店者・利用者)の認識を通じてその特性を明らかにし、今後の課題を検討した。その結果、出店者・利用者はフリーマーケットのコミュニケーション・レクリエーションの場としての意味を共有する関係にあり、その中で一般市民・素人の出店が重要な役割を担っていること、そしてこうした特性を支えるためには、既存の露店組合等による管理とは異なる幅広い出店者層の受入れと、管理運営や出店者構成における地域横断的な出店者ネットワークの活用、地域組織等の地域資源の活用が重要であることが明らかになった。
