In this study, the authors experimentally verify the improved effects of DC supply voltage utilization by the addition of a third harmonic on pulse-voltage-injected two-phase modulation. Two-phase modulation is known for its low switching loss and high DC supply voltage utilization. However, its output voltage spectrum is spread out over a wider frequency band. Therefore, a novel two-phase modulation scheme using pulse-voltage-injection method was published previously. However, this scheme decreased the DC supply voltage utilization. To address this, the authors compare the experimental results with and without third harmonic addition and verify the effect of increasing this utilization using a three-phase voltage-fed inverter. Present results indicate that third harmonic addition improves the DC supply voltage utilization of this novel modulation scheme. Furthermore, the authors compare output voltage waveforms and spectrum, output current waveforms, and conversion efficiency to verify that the third harmonic addition does not introduce any new problems.

Generally, in electric equipment, a large inrush current flows in the capacitor when the power is turned on. The inrush current causes deposition of terminals and switches, melting of fuses, and so on. Therefore, conventional inrush current prevention circuits using an electrical relay and a controller are provided. However, the use of electrical relay enhances concern about an increase in cost and charge-time. In order to solve these problems, this paper proposes the inrush current prevention circuit without electrical relay. In this paper, the authors examine the effectiveness of the proposed circuit from experimental results.

Three-phase diode rectifiers have several advantages, such as simple topology, low amounts of high-frequency noise, high reliability, and high environmental durability. However, these rectifiers produce undesirable lower-order harmonics in the input currents. To overcome this problem, a three-phase choke-input-type diode rectifier with AC-side inductors is presented here, which meets to the regulations of JIS C 61000-3-2 (Class A). In this study, the three-phase diode rectifier (3.0kW, 200V/50Hz) is validated through experimental results.

A three-phase voltage-fed converter operated by a two-phase PWM scheme offers relatively high ac voltage, low switching times, and low switching losses in comparison to that operated by a three-phase PWM scheme. However, the harmonics involved in the ac-side voltages and currents produced in the two-phase PWM scheme are distributed over a wide frequency range, which can be a significant drawback depending on its applications. Therefore the authors examine the problem using wavelet transform.

The grid connection inverter is built in the PCS (Power Conditioning Subsystem) for the distributed power supply, such as photo voltaic system. In order to utilize the power source, it is necessary that the grid connection inverter of the PCS predicts the load and output fluctuation in customer side. Therefore, this paper investigates a load estimation in the grid connection inverter of the PCS. The proposed estimation method adds superimposing perturbative signals in the inverter reference. The validity of the proposed estimation method is experimentally verified. In addition, the perturbative signals for load estimation consist of three different frequency components. As the result, it is experimentally clarified the proposed method improves the estimation accuracy.

Three-phase voltage-fed inverters are used for numerous applications, such as HEVs, EVs. These inverter systems require further improvements in terms of conversion efficiency, cost, size and reliability. On the other hand, dual inverter systems for open-winding motors are garnering attention. This paper, proposes application of pulse-voltage-injection two-phase pulse width modulation (PWM) scheme to dual inverter systems that drive open-winding motors. From the simulated results, it is confirmed that the voltages and currents in the open-winding motor are of higher quality than those in the conventional three-phase PWM scheme or the reference-shift two-phase PWM scheme.

一般に,交流/直流電力変換器は,新幹線,ハイブリッド自動車,太陽光発電用パワーコンディショナなどの多くのアプリケーションで使用されている.そこで本研究では,交流/直流電力変換器に最適なパルス幅変調(Pulse Width Modulation; PWM)法を明らかにする.具体的には,高調波フィルタを接続しないモータドライブシステムには指令値シフト二相PWM法が,太陽光発電用パワーコンディショナや高調波フィルタを接続するモータドライブシステムにはパルス重畳二相PWM法が適していることを明らかにした.
