In accordance with rapid increase of industrial microwave application on heating, more and more high power microwave sources are required. Among many microwave devices, magnetron is most advantageous in economical point of view. Responding to these requirements, a super high power magnetron with output power of 420kW in CW which will be the largest in the world at this time, objective power being 500kW, was developed. In this paper, the design principle, the construction and the scale of each parts are described. The measured characteristics of the developed device reveal satisfactory.

The VPN (Virtual Private Network) technique becomes more and more popular to protect contents of messages and to achieve secure communication from incidents, such as tapping. However, it grow in usage that a VPN server is used on a sub-network in part of an office-wide network. But, a PPTP system included in Windows operating systems cannot establish nested VPN links. Moreover encrypted communication by VPN hides a user of the VPN connection. Consequently, any administrators of network systems can't find out the users of the VPN connection via firewall, moreover can't decide whether if the user is legal or not. In order to solve this problem, we developed a multi step PPTP relay system on a firewall. This system solves all the problems of our previously developed PPTP relay system<sup>(1)</sup>. The new relay system improves security by encrypting through the whole end-to-end communication and abolishing of prior registration of passwords for the next step. Furthermore, transport speed is accelerated, and the restriction of the number of steps on relay is also abolished. By these features the multi step PPTP relay system expands usability.

We propose quantized feature with angular displacement for pose-based activity recognition. We calculate a 3D joint angle from three postural coordinates. The angular displacement should be quantized since joint angle includes errors due to system noises and similar posture. To investigate appropriate features, we propose four kinds of quantization levels; binarization, ternarization, quaternarization, and quinarization. We apply quantized features in order to improve pose-based activity recognition with the UTKinect-Action Dataset. In the experiment, we show the appropriate feature for activity recognition. As the result, the ternarized feature achieves the highest recognition rate in average. The recognition rate of trials with ternarized feature is improved 2.4% to one with no-quantized feature, and 1.8% to conventional method.

This paper reviews a disturbance canceling control based on a disturbance observer from the view point of servo controllers and gives several new points of this control methodology. Especially, the extended H∞ control, previously proposed by authors, is proven to be a special type of such a disturbance canceling controller which has an ability to shape the frequency response of the complementary sensitivity function.

Today, the technique of virtual reality has become popular in various fields because of its technical progress. We focused on ‘presence’ - one of the three elements of virtual reality, and constructed a simple supporting system for piano education. The virtual world and the real world are overlapped by showing the visual information in this system. The purpose of this system is to use the realistic virtual image as an interface (or tool) of education.The unity of the virtual image and the reality has been done with standing pictures by using, for example, ‘See-through HMD’. In this research, however, we overlapped the virtual image and the real world with moving pictures. The overlapping is accomplished not by using HMD, but by using a half mirror. The virtual hands can automatically play a tune from a score so that learners can choose what they like without instructors. This is one example of the system which has a proven effectiveness.

In automated driving at Level 3, drivers constantly need to allocate attention to the driving environment to react immediately to a take-over request. However, the amount of attention of drivers to the driving environment has not been quantified. The objective of this study was a quantitative evaluation of the amount of attention to the driving environment, and the psychophysiological state of the driver, during automated driving at Level 3. Attention and driver state at Level 3 were evaluated using ERP and psychophysiological indices respectively with compared to Level 2. The dual task method was used, in which twelve subjects performed driving tasks (Level 2 and Level 3) on a driving simulation system while in parallel performing an auditory oddball task. The data showed that the amount of attention to the driving environment at Level 3 decreased in comparison to Level 2, as indirectly measured by a 19.2% increase in attention to the auditory oddball task. Sympathetic nervous system activity during Level 3 automated driving decreased as compared to Level 2. In the psychological state, comfortable feeling and arousal level decreased at Level 3.

Selfies may have an effect on the psychophysiological state. The objective of the present study was to evaluate the psychophysiological state by providing feedback for selfies. The effect of the time period was also investigated. The period from the date a selfie was taken to the experiment date was configured as 2 conditions: a Short period (1-40 days) and a Long period (41-80 days). In this study, the evocation of emotions was attempted by providing feedback for four types of selfie 1: good face, 2: bad face, 3: good psychological state, and 4: bad psychological state. “Comfort emotion”, “Like emotion”, and “Awareness” significantly increased when providing feedback for a selfie evaluated as having a good face and a good psychological state. The experimental results using two-way analysis of variance revealed that the physiological state was not affected by the time period, but the psychological state was affected by the time period. The combination of (Positive Face Evaluation) × (Long period) selfies had more positive effect on “Awareness”.

An imbalance of the circadian rhythm due to an irregular lifestyle leads to autonomic dystonia. The long-hour variations of the physiological indices such as core temperature and heart rate variability, associated with the autonomic nervous activity, have been focused. Additionally, the relationships between these physiological indices and facial skin temperature have been reported. The objective of this study is to identify the day-long variable components of facial thermal images (FTIs) to evaluate the corresponding variations of autonomic nervous activity by non-contact measurement. In this study, the measured FTIs were subjected to independent component analysis (ICA). Additionally, multiple regression analysis was performed to estimate the relationships between independent components, extracted from FTIs, and other psychophysiological indices, associated with autonomic nervous activity. As a result, the facial day-long variable components, representing the reproducible rhythm through multiple days, were identified by applying ICA to several different combinations of FTIs. Moreover, these components were associated with the axillary temperature. Therefore, the long-period variations, associated with autonomic nervous activity, could be evaluated from the facial skin temperature.

Hypertension is one of the leading risk factors for cerebrovascular, cardiovascular, and chronic kidney diseases. Regular measurement and monitoring of blood pressure is important to decrease or prevent pathogenesis of diseases. Contactless measurement of blood pressure using a smartphone application, can enable regular monitoring. The objective of this study is to construct a system which can monitor blood pressure anytime and anywhere. In this study, contactless blood pressure assessment was attempted, using facial visible image analysis and created individual models for blood pressure estimation. Variation in brightness of the skin color was obtained from facial visible images and applied to independent component analysis, which is one of the blind source separation methods to extract the facial photoplethysmogram (PPG) component using a proposed system. Amplitude and phase of facial PPG component were used as indices for blood pressure. A correlation analysis between facial PPG component and blood pressure was performed and created individual models for blood pressure estimation.

In recent years, along with the popularization of SNS, the incidents, which are called flaming, that the number of negative comments surges are on the increase. This becomes a problem for companies because flamings hurt companies reputation. In order to minimalize the damage of reputation, we propose the method that detects flamings by estimating the sentiment polarities of SNS comments. Because of the unique SNS characteristics such as repetition of same comments, the polarities of words are sometimes wrongly estimated. To alleviate this problem, transfer learning is introduced. In this research, the sentiment polarities of words are trained in every domain. This will enable to extract the words that are domain-specific and dictate the polarity of comments. These words are occurred in retweets. Transfer learning is implemented to non-extracted words by averaging the occurrence probabilities in other domains. These processes keep the polarities of important words that dictate the polarity of comments and modify the wrongly estimated polarities of words. The experimental results show that the proposed method improves the performance of estimating the sentiment polarity of comments. Moreover, flamings can be detected without missing by monitoring time course of the number of negative comments.

In the selection of portraits for ID and a profile, it is useful to retrieve high quality facial images from a lot of portraits. In addition, overexposure may give a negative impact on us because overexposed facial parts look unnaturally white; therefore the recognition for qualitative meaning of overexposure is important for retrieval of high quality facial images. To get qualitative meaning by a image analysis method that can evaluate images quantitatively, it needs a quasi-quantitative evaluation method that can use an index of quantitative evaluation having qualitative meaning. In this paper, we investigated the index for quasi-quantitative estimation of overexposure in the facial image on the basis of the heuristic assumptions, and defined the index as the overexposure intensity (OI). We developed an algorithm with Support Vector Machine (SVM) for judging the OI. The results of experiment conducted with 11 evaluators for analyzing images suggest that the proposed method can retrieve a facial image for ID and the profile with an F-measure of 96.2%.

New equivalent circuits of neuron, different from the equivalent circuit of Hodgkin-Huxley, are proposed. In these circuits, ion-condensers are a concept to represent the equilibrium potential of ions, and power sources to represent ion-pumps. Uning these equivalent circuits, we derive the equations which relate the resting membrane potential with capacity of the ion-pumps, intracellular impermeant anions concentrations, extracellular ions concentrations and permeability of ions transported by the ion-pumps. Using these equations, we elaluate the effect of presence of intracellular impermeant anions on the resting membrane potential

In the study reported in this paper, we investigated the relationship between a schema and applied programming skills in computer programming education. A schema is a cognitive structure that is gained from experience, and it is assumed to affect an applied skill. The experiment in the present study comprised eight writing tasks and 45 reading tasks, and was designed to investigate three issues: (1) the details of a schema (i.e., knowledge related to program writing skills), (2) the relationship between a schema and applied skills, and (3) the differences between a schema and fragile knowledge. The results show that the group with high writing scores showed advanced applied skills, and there was certain common knowledge in the group with high writing scores that may reflect a programming schema. These results suggest that a teaching method designed to increase the experience of various programming codes through a large number of examples may be effective, with those codes slightly different from each other in order to create a programming schema.

The business in the enterprise is closely related with the information system to such an extent that the business activities are difficult without the information system. The system design technique that considers the business process well, and that enables a quick system development is requested. In addition, the demand for the development cost is also severe than before. To cope with the current situation, the modeling technology named BPM(Business Process Management/Modeling)is drawing attention and becoming important as a key technology. BPM is a technology to model business activities as business processes and visualize them to improve the business efficiency. However, a general methodology to develop the information system using the analysis result of BPM doesn't exist, and a few development cases are reported. This paper proposes an information system development method combining business process modeling with executable modeling. In this paper we describe a guideline to support consistency of development and development efficiency and the framework enabling to develop the information system from model. We have prototyped the information system with the proposed method and our experience has shown that the methodology is valuable.

The aim of this study was to provide adequate home health monitoring in the home by using fully automated biosignal measurement to support daily health care and to improve quality of life. We attempted to develop a home health monitoring system that did not provide any restrictions during sleep. bathing or elimination. A set of room containing a bedroom. bathroom. and toilet room was constructed. The system consisted of monitoring devices and a computer terminal for collecting data. The data were automatically collected from the monitoring devices placed at the bed, bath, and toilet and were transferred to a data terminal in the bedroom and stored for further analysis. The data acquisition system is now being used for seven days and data are collected without any trouble.

<p>Fog-Cloud computing system has recently attracted much attention. This system has a simple three-tiered hierarchy: Network edge, Fog, and Cloud. Network edge includes IoT (Internet of Things) devices. Fog is localized computing facilities including network devices such as an edge router, a switch and any other. In this system, Fog handles various data processing, which are sensitive to delay, to shorten WAN propagation latency arising from the location of Cloud. However, if the data processing is concentrated on Fog, the delay of the processing and power consumption of the network edge may increase rather than Cloud computing. The reason why is because Fog has more limited resources than Cloud. Therefore, we should decide an appropriate allocation of roles between Fog and Cloud taking the latency of the processing and the power consumption of the network edge into account. In this paper, we consider the design of Fog-Cloud computing taking the latency and cost resulted from the power consumption into account by using a mixed integer linear programming.</p>
