In the conventional rail vehicle, traction motor is mounted on the truck frame, and the shaft torque is transmitted to the wheel set via flexible coupling and reduction gearing. The reduction gearing is effective to increase the torque, but gives rise to maintenance, noise and transmission loss. To overcome these problems and simplify the truck structure, we conceived an idea of wheel mounted direct drive traction motor system without the reduction gearing, and started the development.In this system, the traction motor is required to produce more torque and reduce the mass. So we introduced permanent magnet synchronous motor for the first time in the rail vehicle. Here, we propose fundamental structures of the wheel mounted direct drive traction motors, and present a prototype wheel mounted traction motor model, which is manufactured by trial as the first step of the development. We overcame the problem of temperature rise of permanent magnet, through analysis and improvement of the magnetic structure.

小腸大量切除施行後の縫合不全の為,長期間経口摂取ができない甲状腺全摘後の症例に対し,経直腸的に坐薬として甲状腺ホルモン剤(チラージンS,甲状腺末)の投与を行った.当初,内服と同じ量のチラージンSを粉末にし坐薬の形で使用したが,血中のf-T4, f-T3濃度は上昇しなかった.そこで甲状腺末200mgから300mgを坐薬とし使用したところ,血中f-T4, f-T3濃度は上昇してきた.坐薬挿入前後に急な血中濃度の変化は無かった.本症例では,術前T4(チラージンS<sup>®</sup>)として150μgを使用しeu-thyroidを保っていたが,今回経直腸的には甲状腺末が200~300mg必要であった.この量は,チラージンS 150μgの2~3倍に相当する.経直腸的に比較的大量の甲状腺ホルモン剤が必要であったのは薬剤の吸収がただ単に悪いというだけではなく,時折,便秘と下痢を繰り返す状況にあったこともその吸収において影響したものと思われる.

An unbalanced input voltage three-level inverter can be applied to boost the input voltage by employing energy storage devices, such as the electric double layer capacitor (EDLC), in order to enhance the motor output performance. However, the unbalanced input DC voltage limits the output power and generates particular voltage harmonics. In this paper, the harmonic characteristics, a method to change the power distribution and the limit of the power distribution when the ratio of the DC source voltage to the EDLC voltage is changed are discussed.

The Pulse Generators or PGs are equipped to detect the rotor frequency of induction traction motors for the torque control in railway vehicle traction field. Eliminating PGs are preferable from the view points of increasing the reliability of the traction system, reduction of the both initial and maintenance cost and down-sizing induction traction motors. Expecting those merits, we have been studying to apply a sensor less control method to induction traction motor control. Prior to some reports of studies and tests to apply speed sensor-less strategy to railway vehicle traction, we lunched the ideas to apply the speed sensor-less control strategy and results of the studies and the tests. In this paper, we present the novel control method for railway vehicle traction and some results of theoretical study and tests.

This paper is aimed at providing the designing method of a permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) control system for the high-speed and the single-phase AC powered Gauge Changing Train (GCT). The state-of-the-art electrical motive unit is equipped with downsized direct drive type PMSMs for the simplified gauge changeable truck. Due to the feeding the AC single phase power, we propose a beat-less control for PMSMs. We verify the development results of designing procedures by the experimental results of operation on a high-speed test line in Colorado, USA.

This paper presents a manual train operation assistance method for limiting braking power to avoid regeneration cancellation and to save train operation energy. This assistance system consists of on-board computers and interface devices. The braking assistance command is generated from a "dictionary" prepared to increase regenerated energy without any extension of train running time. In order to consider the power limitation and resolve assistance operation problems in terms of the operation delay time, this method was evaluated on a revenue service line. This paper proposes a "best effort method" for energy-saving train operation that does not use the conditions of other trains since train drivers cannot obtain information on the actual status of other trains in present railway systems. On-track tests showed that the power-limiting brake was effective on energy-saving for a train operation. The practical problem of the man machine interface for driver assistance was also intensively studied.

In this paper, we study an optimal design for a hybrid power source railway vehicle as an alternative to diesel railway vehicles. The hybrid power source railway vehicle is assumed to be composed of the fuel cell and the electric double layer capacitor. We apply the multiobjective optimization based on the genetic algorithm for the vehicle design, aiming at reduction of both initial cost and energy consumption. The pareto optimal solutions are obtained using the multiobjective optimization.First we develop a simulation model of the hybrid power source railway vehicle and its electric power control methods. Next we derive the pareto optimal solutions as a result of the multiobjective optimization. Finally, we categorize the pareto optimal solutions to some groups, which enables us to elucidate characteristics of the pareto optimal solutions. Consequently, using the multiobjective optimization approach we effectively comprehend the problem characteristics and can obtain the plural valuable solutions.

<p>Hybrid power source three level inverter is proposed as a main circuit system with energy storage device for increasing regenerative power. This paper proposes a charge and discharge control method to utilize the regenerated energy. The proposed method is verified by experimental tests with a scaled-down model and numerical simulation.</p>

We have been studying the aplication of permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) for railway vehicle traction in order to reduce the weight and size of direct drive traction motor. As a part of this study establishing a current control system of PMSM suitable for railway vehicle traction should be investigated.In this paper we discuss about designing method of current control system mentioned above and suggest a method which is available under the condition of railway vehicle traction, low switching frequency and long digital calculating period. Next we investigate how to decide current response time constant Td and reach a conclusion that it is about 10ms is appropriate under some assumed condition. Then we checked this current control system for railway vehicle traction through experiments and studies of influence of parameter changing. Consequently we can recognize the current control system has satisfactory performance for railway vehicle traction.
