In this paper, we investigate the sum rate (SR) maximization problem for downlink cooperative non-orthogonal multiple access (C-NOMA) system under in-phase and quadrature-phase (IQ) imbalance at the base station (BS) and destination. The BS communicates with users by a half-duplex amplified-and-forward (HD-AF) relay under imperfect IQ imbalance. The sum rate maximization problem is formulated as a non-convex optimization with the quality of service (QoS) constraint for each user. We first use the variable substitution method to transform the non-convex SR maximization problem into an equivalent problem. Then, a joint power and rate allocation algorithm is proposed based on successive convex approximation (SCA) to maximize the SR of the systems. Simulation results verify that the algorithm can improve the SR of the C-NOMA compared with the cooperative orthogonal multiple access (C-OMA) scheme.

Objective Short-term mortality rates remain high among critically ill human immunodeficiency virus-1 (HIV-1) patients though long-term mortality rates have dropped. Baseline risk factors for short-term mortality have not yet been determined in China. In this paper, we herein describe clinical characteristics, laboratory findings, causes of clinical deterioration, and risk factors associated with mortality among HIV-1 patients within six months after hospital admission. Methods We carried out a prospective study of hospitalized patients in advanced stages of HIV infection. These patients started antiretroviral therapy three or four weeks after admission. Follow-up was conducted for a period of six months. We used a multivariate logistic-regression analysis to identify risk factors associated with mortality. Results A total of 141 patients met our inclusion criteria. The mean age was 41 years. Fever and weight loss were the most common clinical manifestations of advanced HIV disease. Oral candidiasis, tuberculosis, cytomegaloviremia, and pneumocystis pneumonia were the most common opportunistic infections. Significantly decreased CD4+ T-cell counts, hypoalbuminemia, anemia, hyponatremia, as well as elevated C-reactive protein (CRP) and glutamic alanine transaminase levels were common laboratory test abnormalities. The mortality rate was 21.3%. The patients who died were more likely than the survivors to have low CD4+ T-cell counts as well as low creatinine, hemoglobin, albumin, and serum sodium levels while also having longer intervals of fever and higher CRP levels. A multivariate analysis demonstrated that the independent risk factors for mortality were active tuberculosis [odds ratio (OR): 2.681; 95% confidence interval (CI), 1.006-7.142; p=0.049], hyponatremia (OR: 3.027; 95% CI, 1.238-7.401; p=0.015), and being at clinical stage 4 (as defined by the World Health Organization) (OR: 9.492; 95% CI, 1.200-75.065; p=0.033) within the first six months of admission. Conclusion Special consideration should be given to patients who have active tuberculosis, are at clinical stage 4, and present with hyponatremia upon admission as these were found to be important factors associated with mortality within six months of hospital admission in HIV-1 patients.

Many studies have suggested that the intake of soy products may protect against the occurrence of breast cancer because of the considerable amount of isoflavones they contain. To review the results of the observational studies, we performed this meta-analysis of the relevant literature. We searched Medline for reports that examined the association between soyfood consumption (or isoflavone intake) and breast cancer risk from January 1966 to April 2006. The random-effects model was used to estimate the pooled relative risk (RR). Twenty-one independent studies (14 case-control studies and 7 cohort studies) were included in the final analysis. The pooled RR of breast cancer for soyfood intake was 0.75 with a 95% CI of 0.59-0.95. As the main types of soyfood in Japan and China, tofu and miso showed clear protective effects. Isoflavone intake resulted in a 20% decrease in risk (RR=0.81, 95% CI 0.67-0.99). The pooled RR varied little according to study stratification. When the studies published in Japanese and Chinese were added, the inverse associations between soyfood, tofu and breast cancer risk became slightly stronger. The weak association of miso was possibly due to the high concentration of salt in miso soup. In the present analysis, we did not find strong evidence for publication bias in the combination of the studies. This meta-analysis supported the hypotheses that soyfood intake may be associated with a decreased risk of breast cancer due to the isoflavones. Further epidemiological studies need to be conducted with more comprehensive information about the soyfood, and more accurate assessment of the isoflavones.

Light provides energy for photosynthesis and is also an important environmental signal that regulates plant growth and development. Ribose-5-phosphate isomerase plays a crucial role in photosynthesis. However, ribose-5-phosphate isomerase has yet to be studied in soybean photosynthesis. To understand the biological function of GmRPI2, in this study, GmRPI2 was cloned, plant overexpression vectors and gene editing vectors were successfully constructed, and transformed into recipient soybean JN74 using the Agrobacterium-mediated method. Using qRT-PCR, we analyzed that GmRPI2 gene expression was highest in leaves, second highest in roots, and lowest in stems. Promoter analysis revealed the presence of multiple cis-acting elements related to light response in the promoter region of GmRPI2. Compared with the control soybean plants, the net photosynthetic rate and transpiration rate of the overexpression lines were higher than those of the control and gene editing lines, while the intercellular CO2 concentration was significantly lower than that of the control and gene editing lines; the total chlorophyll, chlorophyll a, chlorophyll b contents and soluble sugar contents of the overexpression plants were significantly higher than those of the recipient and editing plants, indicating that the GmRPI2 gene can increase The GmRPI2 gene can increase the photosynthetic capacity of soybean plants, providing a theoretical basis and genetic resources for improving soybean yield by regulating photosynthetic efficiency.

Named Data Networking (NDN) uses name to indicate content mechanism to divide content, and uses content names for routing and addressing. However, the traditional network devices that support the TCP/IP protocol stack and location-centric communication mechanisms cannot support functions such as in-network storage and multicast distribution of NDN effectively. The performance of NDN routers designed for specific functional platforms is limited, and it is difficult to deploy on a large scale, so the NDN network can only be implemented by software. With the development of data plane languages such as Programmable Protocol-Independent Packet Processors (P4), the practical deployment of NDN becomes achievable. To ensure efficient data distribution in the network, this paper proposes a protocol-independent multicast method according to each binary bit. The P4 language is used to define a bit vector in the data packet intrinsic metadata field, which is used to mark the requested port. When the requested content is returned, the routing node will check which port has requested the content according to the bit vector recorded in the register, and multicast the Data packet. The experimental results show that bitwise multicast technology can eliminate the number of flow tables distributed compared with the dynamic multicast group technology, and reduce the content response delay by 57% compared to unicast transmission technology.

Some normal people are falsely classified as having impaired glucose tolerance (IGT) if they are given an oral glucose tolerance test (OGTT) when their last meal contained very few carbohydrates. In this study, the duration of carbohydrate restriction was extended to one and three days and the relationship between the carbohydrate restriction and the glucose tolerance after an OGTT was examined. Two different groups of normal subjects were placed on high-carbohydrate (80% carbohydrates) and low-carbohydrate (10%) diets before an OGTT; one group for one day and the other for 3 days. None of the subjects showed impairment of glucose tolerance when placed on the high-carbohydrate regimens. In contrast, 3 of 12 subjects and 2 of 8 subjects placed on the low-carbohydrate diets for 1 and 3 days, respectively, were classified as having IGT. The impairment of glucose tolerance was invariably accompanied by an increase in the fasting plasma free fatty acid level. The longer the period of carbohydrate restriction, the severer was the glucose tolerance impairment. However, the number of subjects who were classified as having IGT did not depend on the duration of carbohydrate restriction. The impairment of glucose tolerance after carbohydrate restriction may be associated with the Randle effect, which is the activation of the glucose-free fatty acid cycle.

To assess the effect of milk on the development of 7,12-dimethylbenz(a)anthracene (DMBA)-induced mammary tumors, 48 female Sprague-Dawley rats treated with DMBA were divided into 3 groups and given 1 of 3 test solutions for 20 weeks as their drinking liquid: milk, estrone sulfate solution or tap water. The milk group showed a significantly great incidence (75%) in tumor development compared with the water group (38%) and was comparable to the estrone sulfate group (69%). Mean tumor number per rat in the milk group was significantly higher than that in the water group (p=0.009). We classified the mammary tumors into three histological types: intraductal papilloma, fibroadenoma, and adenocarcinoma. Although the percent of intraductal papilloma and fibroadenoma was almost same among the three groups, malignant tumor was found only in the milk and estrone sulfate groups. In conclusion, our results indicate that milk as well as estrone sulfate promotes the development of DMBA-induced mammary tumors in rat and could be associated with the occurrence of adenocarcinoma.
