Atmospheric corrosion on the inhabited steel framed house was investigated with Fe-Ag galvanic type atmospheric corrosion monitoring (ACM) sensors. As the environmental conditions, temperature, humidity and currents of the ACM sensors were continuously measured in several parts of the house for five years. Corrosion rates of hot-dip galvanized steel sheet, Zn-5%Al coated steel and 55%Al-Zn coated steel for the light gauge steels were also determined on the basis of exposure tests. Service life of the galvanized steels and dew condensation in the house were discussed.Amount of deposited sea salt influences the corrosion resistance of the coated steels. Under the indoor conditions of the inhabited house, the amount of deposited sea salt was negligibly small. It is difficult to evaluate the corrosion resistance of coated steel sheets using convenient corrosion tests because of too much sea salt.

This paper presents actual performance of high-reflectivity panels by enviromental exposure test and cover performance of cloth. It was indicated that baking finishing and photocatalyst coating panels could maintain initial performance over a long period compared with conventional panels. On the other hand, spectral reflectivity and transmissivity of the clothes commercially available that influence on human thermal sensation of the exterior space. The spectral characteristic of solar shielding near infrared region is significant.

This paper presents actual performance of high-reflectivity paints by environmental exposure test. Test panels were coated with high-reflectivity or conventional paints on site or in-factory at the manufacturing stage by a newly developed heat curing paint method. Our results reveal that solar reflectivity of the panels were degraded by up to 20 percent from initial status during first year, and this degradation is chiefly due to airborne contamination. This study also demonstrates that panels coated with high-reflectivity heat curing paint with a photocatalyst finish can preserve high reflectivity and therefore thermal conditioning effects longer than the panels painted on site.
