男性は女性よりも短期配偶志向が強いということは良く知られている。しかし,短期配偶には様々なコストがかかるため(たとえば「女ったらし」という評判がたつと,望ましい長期配偶相手を得られなくなるため),全ての男性が常に短期配偶をするわけではない。我々は,そうした評判に対するセンシティビティが高まったときには男性は短期配偶志向を抑えると予測した。この仮説を検討するため実験を実施したところ,評判に対するセンシティビティが低いときには男性の方が女性よりも短期配偶志向が強かったが,評判に対するセンシティビティが高いときにはそうなってはいなかった。ただし,この傾向は交際相手のいる参加者に限ってみられていた。評判が短期配偶志向に及ぼす効果について議論した。

With the spread of coronavirus disease (COVID-19), citizens have had to comply with the guidelines to prevent infection and the spread of COVID-19. However, not all citizens have been compliant with the guidelines. Based on Zitek and Schlund (2021), we hypothesized that people higher in psychological entitlement would report less compliance with the guidelines, and this relationship would be mediated by less concern for others. We conducted surveys in April 2021 whose results (n=250) supported these hypotheses.

Studies of goal management have examined how to manage multiple goals. Previous research (Finkelstein & Fishbach, 2010) showed that healthy eating made one hungrier. This study hypothesized that participants were hungrier when a health goal was not activated than when it was activated. It is expected that in such cases, goal shifting might be more likely to occur because goal progress had been perceived. Two experiments were conducted and their results were in line with this hypothesis. Participants reported being hungrier when their health goal were not activated than when these goals were activated. We consider the effect of goal activation on goal management and its implications for future research.
