本論の目的は,文献分析に基づき,知識の組織化システム(KOS)としての統合的レベル分類(ILC)と,Claudio Gnoli の存在論(複数主義)との関係を検討することである。 本論での検討の結果,2 つのことが明らかになった。1 つは,Gnoli の存在論は,確かに統合的レベル分類においてすべての研究対象を秩序付けることができるが,統合的レベル分類においてすべての研究対象を秩序付けることができる存在論はGnoli の存在論だけではないということ,言い換えるならば,抽象的存在者を認めるとしても必要とされる抽象的存在者はメンティファクトのような存在者だけとは限らないということである。もう1 つは,たとえ研究対象として知識の地位を評価することのできる存在論が他にあるとしても, Gnoli の存在論は確かに研究対象としての知識の地位を評価することができるということである。

In “From Alethic Anti-realism to Alethic Realism” Künne distinguishes between alethic realism and alethic anti-realism. This article examines whether or not alethic anti-realism is appropriate, when we take the position of using common sense to settle a philosophical problem. To that end, I will first review Künne's theory. Next, I will point out that Putnam's natural realists are alethic realists, that Wright's moderate internalists are alethic ani-realists, and that Wright argues against Putnam. Then, I will argue that Künne's conception of truth escapes the criticism of Wright's argument. Lastly I will also review Tennant's argument for anti-realism, and argue that in spite of Tennant's argument, alethic anti-realism is not appropriate when considered from a commonsense point of view.

アメリカの哲学者、ヒラリー・パトナムは、2016年3月13日に亡くなった。彼は、その哲学的な経歴において、科学的世界観と常識の世界観の両方を受け入れることができる、満足のいく哲学的実在論を求めて、実在論に対する立場を変えてきた。彼は、まず(狭い意味での)形而上学的実在論を、次に内的実在論を、それから、デューイレクチャーにおいて、選言説を含む自然な実在論(常識の実在論)を主張する。しかし、晩年、彼は、依然として常識の実在論を主張する一方で、選言説に反対し、リベラルな自然主義、リベラルな機能主義を主張する。本論文では、選言説への批判に焦点を当て、リベラルな自然主義やリベラルな機能主義の妥当性を検討する。そのため、まず、『心・身体・世界:三つの撚り糸』での自然な実在論と選言説について説明する。次に、リベラルな自然主義とリベラルな機能主義を概観する。それから、選言説への晩年のパトナムの批判を整理する。そして、最後に、リベラルな自然主義とリベラルな機能主義がかなり妥当する考えである一方で、それには、哲学的分析の役割をどのように考えるかという問題(常識は哲学かという問題)も含まれていると論じる。

原著論文【目的】本論文の目的は, 哲学と図書館情報学(LIS)の関係を検討することである。【方法】本論文は, 哲学とLISの間の関係について, 文献に基づく分析を行う。LIS分野での哲学に関係する最近の重要な論文(2003年5月~2013年4月に刊行)が集められ, それらの論文の内容の特徴が検討される。【結果】LIS分野での哲学に関係する最近の論文のほとんどは, LIS研究のために, 哲学(たとえば, ネオプラグマティズム, 現象学, 解釈学, ポスト構造主義など)を使っている。これらの論文は, 哲学がLISの発展に寄与することができると論じている。しかし, これらの論文は, LIS研究の基礎として哲学を使おうとしているのではない。言い換えるならば, 哲学が合理的方法についてのものであり, その合理的方法がLISに取り込まれ, もしくは, 応用され, それによってLISが科学になると主張しているのではない。そうではなく, 哲学は, LIS研究への存在論的, もしくは, 認識論的アプローチとして現れている。これらの論文は, どのような存在論的・認識論的アプローチがLISの発展に寄与することができるかを論じているのである。そして, そのような議論は, LIS研究における具体的な例を使うことによって説明されている。ある存在論的・認識論的アプローチがLISの発展に寄与しうるかどうかをそのように論じることは, LIS研究にとって重要であるだけでなく, 哲学の研究にとっても重要である。なぜなら, 何らかの存在論的・認識論的アプローチがLIS研究にとって有効であるならば, そのことは, その存在論的・認識論的アプローチが適切であるということを示すことになるからである。そのように, 哲学とLISは相互に関係している。Purpose : This article discusses the relationship between philosophy and library and information science(LIS).Method : The study uses a literature-based analysis of the relationship between philosophy and LIS. Important recent articles (published from May 2003 to April 2013) about philosophy in the field of LIS are collected, and their contents are analyzed.Results : Most of the recent articles about philosophy in the field of LIS use philosophy (for example, neo-pragmatism, phenomenology, hermeneutics, and post-structuralism) to study LIS. These articles argue that philosophy can contribute to the development of LIS, but do not use philosophy as a foundation for LIS studies. That is, they do not claim that philosophy involves rational methods; rational methods are imported or applied to LIS, thereby making LIS a scientific field. However, philosophy appears in ontological or epistemological approaches to LIS studies. These articles argue the kind of ontological or epistemological approaches that can contribute to the development of LIS, using concrete examples from LIS studies. Examining whether an ontological or epistemological approach can contribute to the development of LIS is important not only for studies of LIS but also for studies of philosophy. Showing that such an approach is useful involves proving the appropriateness of the approach. Hence, philosophy and LIS are closely related.
