The effects of STP additives were tested on six engines for farm use, in which STP was added 20% to oil and 0.5% to fuel respectively. The increase of shaft horse power of engines were 4.8% (at maximum) to 0.2% (at minimum). and mean value was about 2%. The cause of these power increaments were supposed that STP maintaines a betterseal between the engine cylinder and the piston rings in high compression engine at high speed.

In this paper, the results of the analysis of oil used for the 50 hours runing test of water cooled diesel engine for farm use were mainly reported. The variable loading unit under programmed control was used for the experiments, which was already reported in the former paper.Discussion of oil analysis were held on the following items shown in Table 2 such as specific gravity, color, flash point and so on.The effect of STP additives was not found so cearly, therefore the further investigation including more experiments should be needed.

The programmed control variable loading unit was constructed. This unit consists of hydraulic power unit, optical reader by photo-transistor, amplifier and prony brake for loading.The process of signal flow is as follows: The input signal is supplied by the punched tape and amplified. Then the relay acted and drives the directional valve. The change of the oil flow drives the hydraulic cylinder back and forth. The displacement of the hydraulic cylnder is related to the action of loading or unloading to the Prony brake.This unit was used for the hundred hours engine test. The effects of the STP additives will be discussed in the following report. Through the development of this unit, the followings are summarized:1. The programmed control variable loading unit worked satisfactorily as the loading unit for engine test.2. The outputs such as torque of axle and the displacement of the hydraulic cylinder were predicted through the punched tape signal input. The graphical integration method and the cycle diagram were applied to predict the output signals and the predicted output signals were compared with the ones obtained from the experiments.3. The maximum frequency response of this unit is due to the ones of the directional valve and the relay, therefore it should be less than two or theree hertz.4. For the simulation of the variable loading with high frequency, the electrical clutching device will be more effective instead of the hydraulic prony brake.5. Further inspection how the real load variation in the field operation should be transfered onto the punched tape should be done.

The following results obtained in the test of the engine oil, which contained some friction-proof agents.1 The engine performance was constant, but lowerd the temperature of oils by about 7-8° C when Moly Slip was added.2 Fuel consumption was unchangable.3 It was supposed that the oil consumption depended mainly upon the number of oil rings are not upon the friction-proof agent.4 Any effect of the friction-proof agent was not recognized in the results of both physical and chemical analyses, such as the carbon residue, ash content, total base number, and the n-pentane insolube.5 The effect of friction-proof agent was recognized in boundary lubricant, for example, in case of four ball test.From the above result, little effect of the friction-proof agent was recognized under the moving condition of 1/2 load and 1300rpm. Reverse result, however, might have been obtained under the moving condition of over-load and max, revolution.

ユーカリ油は燃料として引火点および粘度が高い。このような燃料は燃料噴射装置を有する,圧縮点火機関用燃料として有望である。本研究は,ユーカリ油,軽油を用い,Y社製水冷4サイクルディーゼル機関の出力特性を実験した。軽油中のユーカリ油混入量40%までは,機関出力,燃費率に大きな相違は認められないが,ユーカリ油混入率60%以上では低負荷時に爆発むらがみられ爆発音もやゝ高かった。2000 rpm付近までは,混合比に関係なくトルクは,ほぼ一定,それ以上ではユーカリ油混合最大なるはど数%トルクの増加が認められた。燃費率はユーカリ油混入の場合,軽油に比して大きな相違は認められない。以上を総合し,ユーカリ油の軽油中への実用的な混合割合いは20%~40%である。またユーカリ油混合割合が多くなるに従い,燃料のセタン価が低下するので,セタン価向上剤の添加が,ユーカリ油混合の場合考慮されるが、今後の実験でその効果を確かめたい。

ユーカり混合燃料を用い、空燃比を一定の範囲で変化させエンジン燃焼室内の火災伝播速度を調べた。エンジンに流人する空気流は脈動をともなうのでこれを除くためサージタンクを設けタンクには四分円ノズルを取付けマノメーターでタンク内外の圧力差を続むことにより流量を測定した。また空燃比を変えるためにはキャブレターのメインジェットノズルの内径の異なるものを用い燃料の流量を変えることにより空燃比を変化させた。実験の結果ユーカり油の火災伝播速度はガソリンより少し速いことが判った。また空気過剰率が1に近い場合はユーカり油の混合割合の増加ともに火災伝播速度が増加する傾向がみられた。火災伝播速度は空気過剰率に影響されその値が1に近づくとき政最高の値となったが1以上または以下に大きく変化すると適正燃焼が行なわれず火災伝播速度は小さくなった。
