An energy cycle using solar power and metals has been proposed. High repetitive laser pulses are generated by a solar-pumped laser or a laser generated using solar power, and the laser pulses are irradiated to metal oxides in liquid. We can obtain reduced metal nanoparticles with this method, and solar power is effectively stored as chemical energy. We fabricated Li air fuel cells using sintered Iron or Aluminum nanopaste plates as negative electrodes. Electricity was successfully produced from these cells. The observed maximum output voltage of the Al paste Li air cell was 2.9 V when they were connected to a low load. The Fe or Al paste Li air cells are expected to become common power supplies with high-energy density and high output power.

In recent years, there have been many reports on how polypharmacy is addressed in hospitals through multidisciplinary collaboration; however, there are few reports on how pharmacies are addressing polypharmacy among outpatients in collaboration with physicians and hospital pharmacists. In September 2020, physicians, hospital pharmacists, and pharmacy pharmacists collaborated to establish a model for dealing with polypharmacy in community pharmacies (creating a polypharmacy assessment tool and conducting regular joint conferences between hospitals and pharmacies). In this study, the actual state of polypharmacy intervention by pharmacy pharmacists after the introduction of this model was investigated. The study was conducted at three community pharmacies over a 6-month period. A tool-based polypharmacy assessment of patients aged 65 years or older taking six or more prescription drugs revealed that 97% (65/67 patients) experienced polypharmacy issues and in 44.8% (30/67 patients), the pharmacist considered it necessary to report the patient’s condition to the physician. Of the 35 informational letters reported to physicians, 28 were prescription suggestions, with a prescription change rate of 46.4% (13/28). The improvement rate of adverse drug events after pharmacist intervention was 54.0% (27/50), and the improvement rate of adherence was 66.7% (24/36). These results indicate that the model for dealing with polypharmacy in community pharmacies contributed to the improved ability of pharmacy pharmacists to intervene, because of the establishment of criteria for evaluating polypharmacy and because hospital-pharmacy joint conferences, which are key to community collaboration, were continuously held.

On the island of Okinoshima off the coast of Shikoku in the Uwa Sea are settlements situated on areas of flat ground secured out of steep terrain by stone walls. In Hirose, there remain stone walls built as windbreaks against typhoons and prevailing northwesterly winter winds. In Moshima, the stone windbreaks have been entirely replaced with concrete or block walls. The type of stone used on the island is Tertiary intrusive granite. The stonework is characterized by sharp corners, produced by stacking angularly cut stones at 90° angles to one another, and the walls are given a concave curvature when they exceed approximately two meters in height. In the case of long, high earth-retaining structures, stones are laid over the arched wall surface to increase strength. The stone walls on the island are in a typically Honshu style, the exemplar of which is Anō-zumi. Across the island, hidana are built instead of verandas. These temporary structures, which are unique to the island, are made from bamboo or PVC pipes that extend out from the stone walls of homes. However, some also span roads. Hidana provide shelter against the winds that ascend the steep terrain, allowing best use to be made of the scarce land available on the island.

<p>経管栄養と経口摂取の要介護高齢者における口蓋・舌・咽頭の細菌叢を明らかにするために次世代シークエンス解析(NGS)を行い,さらに細菌叢に影響を与えている要因を検索する目的で主成分分析と相関比を用いた.経管栄養者20名と経口摂取者19名の要介護高齢者を調査対象とした.入院記録より栄養摂食状況,年齢,性別,疾患,寝たきり度を確認し,Japan Coma Scale,意識レベル,意思疎通の有無,残存歯とう蝕の有無,CPI測定を行った.検体採取は,口蓋,舌,咽頭をスワブ法にて実施し,DNA抽出,PCR法,次世代シークエンス・メタゲノム解析を行い,塩基配列を解読し,細菌の種類と構成率を評価した.</p><p>Shannon指数は,経管群で口蓋と咽頭において経口群よりも有意に低く,舌では,平均値で経管群が低かったが,有意差を認めなかった.経管群における口蓋,舌,咽頭は,好気性菌が有意に多く,通性嫌気性菌は,経管群で有意に多く認めた.経管群における口蓋,舌,咽頭の細菌叢は<i>Neisseria</i>属,<i>Streptococcus</i>属,<i>Rothia</i>属の割合が多かった.主成分分析による口蓋の第1主成分の寄与率は21.3%,舌で32.7%,咽頭で30.1%であった.「経管/経口」「意思疎通」「年齢」「全身疾患の種類」などを含めた18項目と細菌叢との関連を示す相関比は,「経管/経口」の相関比が最も高いことが認められ,口蓋・舌・咽頭の細菌叢に最も影響を与える要因は,「経管/経口」であった.</p>

これまでに開発した結晶セルロース添加あるいは被覆した米に、食後血糖上昇緩和効果があることをヒト試験で明らかにした。さらに、結晶セルロースが小腸管腔内の糖の移動に与える影響をスンクスを用いて検討したいところ、結晶セルロース添加によって1)消化管内容物の粘度が上昇し、2)内容物中の糖の拡散速度が低下し、管腔内の多くの糖が留まり、3)糖の吸収速度を緩和させる可能性が高いことを示した。
