Ga-67-scintigraphy was performed on 3 patients with malignant lymphoma of the thyroid. Ga-67-accumulation was noted in the primary lesions of two patients. Ga-67-accumulation was seen in an inflammatory lesion, which was not the primary lesion, in the other patient. One of the patients, who was a 48 year-old woman with primary malignant lymphoma of the thyroid, had metastases in the mediastinum, neck and axillar region. The metastases were clearly detected by T1-201 imaging, but Ga-67 did not accumulate in the metastatic foci. It seems that T1-201 is superior to Ga-67 in defining a primary malignant lymphoma of the thyroid.甲状腺原発の悪性リンパ腫は比較的稀な疾患であるが,甲状腺に腫瘤を触知する時には常に鑑別を要する疾患である.私共は3例の甲状腺原発の悪性リンパ腫を経験し,治療前の3例すべてに(67)Ga-citrate似下(67)Gaと略す)シンチグラフィーを施行し,そのうち1例には(201)Tl-chloride(以下(201)Tlと略す)シンチグラフィーを合せ行ない,病巣の進展の描出に(201)Tlが(67)Gaに比べて優れていたので若干の文献的考察を加えて報告する.

To evaluate the usefulness of the waterless hand washing method for surgical anti-sepsis, we conducted a microbial sampling study, comparing it to a conventional surgical scrub method. A total of 18 operating-room nurses were undertaking the following three-hand washing protocols : scrubbing with blushes using 4w/v% chlorhexidine gluconate (CHG) and also rubbing with CHG, followed by application of a 0.2w/v% CHG with ethanol (HS) preparation. (conventional method); rubbing with CHG and application of HS (two-stage surgical scrub method; TSS); rubbing with anti-septic soap and application of HS (waterless method; WL). Microbial sampling was conducted after hand washing using the glove juice method. No statistically significant differences in bacterial numbers were found among these three methods. The number of bacterially positive subjects was significantly higher in the conventional method than the TSS method. These results indicate that there are adverse effects of blush-scrubbing, as the detected bacteria were related to normal skin flora. As such, the WL method for hand anti-sepsis appears to be equivalent to the conventional surgical scrubbing method in terms of microbial detection. The WL method should therefore be introduced as a standard hand anti-sepsis method at the time of surgery because it is cost-effective as well as time-efficient.

The benzethonium chloride method of Iwata for the turbiditometric determination of minute amounts of protein reacted in alkali condition was improved for application to the measurement of urinary protein before and after physical loading. 1) In order to determine minute amounts of protein based on Iwata's method, an improved method was devised. A 0.2ml of urine was added to 3.9ml of a mixture of 33.85mol/l of EDTA 4Na and 0.5mol/l of NaOH. 2) The correlation coefficient of both modified Meulemans method and modified Iwata's one was R=0.96 and the regression equation was y=1.33x+0.17 where x was protein concentration obtained by modified Iwata's method using urine of students before Judo and basketball exercise. The correlation coefficient of both methods was R=0.98 and the regression equation was y=0.91x+0.27 using urine of students agter Judo and basketball exercise. The value obtained by both methods nearl coincided with each other. 3) Turbidity produced by modified Iwata's method was more stable after addition of reagents than that by modified Meulemans method. 4) A minute amount of urinary protein could be preserved and determined by modified Iwata's method up to 4days under freezing at -20℃.
