<p>A Tesla coil is a resonant transformer circuit that generates very high voltages which are made to arc through the air. Recently, a solid state Tesla coil was produced according to developing the semiconductor. In addition, the solid state Tesla coil makes sound by the air discharge. Hence, the sound is used as musical devices. In the past, the musical solid state Tesla coils are generated by PWM (Pulse Width Modulation) method. However, it is difficult to use the high pitch sound and the tone color. This paper investigates the musical solid state Tesla coil by using not PWM method but PRF (Pulse Repetition Frequency) method. As the result, the proposed musical solid state Tesla coil provides good sound.</p>

<p>In this paper, the influence to electromagnetic environment was evaluated on the outside of buildings where power line communication (PLC) systems were installed to a three-wire three-phase power distribution line. The electric field strength was measured at 140 points in five factories, in two office buildings, and in one stadium. Since many radio waves existed in the environment, the electric field strength when PLC system was operated and was not operated was measured. The influence was evaluated by the cumulated occurrence probability because the frequency characteristics of the electric filed strength changed by the measurement points. The results showed that the occurrence probability was not changed when the PLC system was operated and was not operated. The electric field strength was calculated by the common mode current obtained from the test result, and this indicated that the occurrence probability was lower than the measured occurrence probability of electric field strength.</p>

This paper discusses engineering ethics education as a way to enhance problem solving skills through group discussions. During group discussions, students are given a role to play in imaginary scenarios. The students hold discussions to work out the reasons for what went wrong in the imaginary scenarios. Once the causes are identified, the students design multiple solution strategies and devise short-term and long-term measures to be implemented. In order to encourage students to carry out discussions and devise solution strategies, we used two frameworks: Seven-step guide and 4M analysis. We have analyzed the correlation between the test scores in engineering ethics and the pre- and post- self-evaluation results, which were measured by the fundamental competencies for working persons. As a result, we conclude that the education is able to demonstrate an educational effect in terms of the development of communication and problem solving skills, it still leaves some issues to be resolved with regard to the students' ability to act and get things done.

Non-destructive, two-dimensional distribution measurement of rusting under opaque anticorrosion paint was carried out, using a terahertz camera, a quantum cascade laser, and a galvanic scanner. The measurement speed of the present method was found to be 11 times faster than the conventional raster scanning method based on time-domain spectroscopy. A signal to noise ratio exceeding 10<sup>2</sup> was confirmed for both systems, which enables detection of minor rusting.
