This paper presents physical and mechanical properties of volcanic ash soils in Hokkaido. A series of test results showed that physical property of volcanic ash soils was strongly influenced by intra-particle void and minerals of soil particles. It was also found that unique relationships between N and φ values existed on volcanic soil grounds. Liquefaction of volcanic soil grounds induced by recent big earthquakes around Hokkaido has been also introduced. According to laboratory test results, it was apparent that liquefaction resistance of pumice flow deposits (D_<rc>=70%) with non-plastic fines was significantly lower than that of dense Toyoura sand.

Methanol extracts of Myrobalan (1), knots of Wisteria brachybotrys (2), fruits of Trapa japonica (3) and Coix seed (4) were assayed for their inhibitory effects on Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) activations by a short term in vitro assay in which lymphoblastoid cells (Raji) latently infected with EBV were used. The EBV activation by 12-0-tetradecanoylphorbol-13-acetate (TPA) and teleocidin B was inhibited markedly by 1 and 2 but only weakly by 3. Coix seed (4) was found to show a significant in vitro cytotoxic effect on the Raji cells. The methanolic extracts from four mixtures of the crude drugs i.e., 1 and 4, 2 and 3, 2 and 4, and 2, 3 and 4, gave more enhanced inhibitory effects on EBV activation, with less cytotoxicity. These inhibitory effects on EBV activation suggested that these crude drugs possess antitumor promoting activities.

日蓮が、文永12年(1275)に身延から弟子の池上兄弟に送った書簡。同じく日蓮著の『十法界明因果抄』『祈祷抄』『四條金吾許御文』『四信五品事』を合刻。日蓮の著作の古活字版は元和・寛永年間に40点ほど刊行されているが、これもその一つで、別掲『開目抄』(請求記号<WA7-138>と同種活字を用いる。版心には「御書十六」とある。ト、ニ、ハなどの助詞は小活字を使用。藍色原表紙を付す。題簽は欠。朱の句読、墨の返り点、送り仮名がある。実業家・古書収集家高木利太(1871-1933)の旧蔵。
