To obtain novel mutants of barley (Horderum vulgare L), heavy ion irradiation were conducted. Both imbibed and dry seeds of barley (Kanto Hadaka No.77) were irradiated with 5-400 [gray] of dose by heavy-ion beam (^<14>N; 135MeV/u) and cultivated on field. Severe growth inhibition were observed in over 10 and 200 gray irradiation in imbibed and dry seed irradiation, respectively. After harvesting M_2 seeds, an aliquot of seeds were sown to field, candidates of mutants were serveyed, and selected. After crossing, their F_1 and F_2 plant phenotype were examined, 3 dwarf lines which have ressesive allele were separated. These results suggest that heavy-ion irradiation is effective method to mutate barley.

小麦4品種(バンドウワセ,農林61号,つるぴかり,あやひかり)を,様々な栽培条件や収穫時期で栽培・収穫した.収穫物は60%粉(A粉)に製粉し,色相(L*, a*, b*値)を測定し, Ca, K, Mg, Cu, Fe, Mn, Znの含有量を測定した.<BR>ミネラル含有量と小麦粉の色相を比較したところ,窒素施肥量の増加により色相が低下した場合,Mg, Cu, Znの含有量が増加し,収穫時期の遅れに伴って色相が低下した場合,Ca, K, Mg, Znの含有量が減少したが,Feの含有量は増加した.<BR>また,鉄の含有量の増加に伴ってL*値の減少が観察され,鉄の含有量とL*値の間には相関関係があった(相関係数は0.70-0.84)ことから,鉄が小麦粉の色相と関連していることが示唆された.

1979年4月, 日本政府は, 「ふじ」の輸送能力の限界と老朽化を考慮して, 南極地域観測支援のため, 新しい後継艦を建造することを決定した。新砕氷艦は, 「ふじ」に比べると大きさで約2倍, 軸馬力で約3倍であり, 砕氷能力は, おおよそアークティッククラス4と見積もられる。本艦は観測隊員等60名, 貨物1000トンを昭和基地に輸送する能力をもっており, CH-53級輸送用ヘリコプター2機とOH-6級偵察用ヘリコプター1機を搭載する予定である。推進装置としては, ディーゼルエレクトリックAC-R-DC, 3軸推進方式が採用されている。宙空, 海洋, 生物, データ処理等5つの観測室が設けられ, 種々の洋上観測作業をすることができる。本艦の初の南極行動は, 1983年末に予定されている。In April 1979,the Japanese Government decided to build a new icebreaker to take over the function of the icebreaker FUJI, because the latter's capability in the Antarctic activities was reduced due to aging. The new ship also engages in such operations as the transportation of the personnel and cargo and on the onboard observations. The ship's capabilities are improved. The standard displacement is 11,000 ton, which is twice that of the FUJI, and the propulsion capacity is 30,000 SHP, which is about three times that of the FUJI. The diesel-electric AC-R-DC is used for the propulsion. Six sets of generators and motors drive three propellers through three shafts. The capability of breaking the sea ice may be estimated as Arctic class 4. Accommodations for 60 scientists and 170 crew and holds for cargo of 1000 tons are prepared. Laboratories for the onboard research of the space science, oceanography, biology, geosciences and gravimetry and a data processing room are provided. The first cruise of the new ship is planned in the 1983-84 season. Two CH-53 class cargo helicopters and one OH-6 class reconnaissance helicopter will be equipped.

1 0 0 0 OA ネギの分げつ発生制御におけるジベレリンの役割解明
ジベレリン(GA)およびGA生合成阻害剤(UCZ)処理がネギの分げつ発生に及ぼす影響を調査した結果、分げつの発生はGA処理で促進、UCZ処理で抑制され、UCZによる抑制効果はその後のGA処理によって打ち消された。分げつ性の異なる複数のネギ品種について、内生GA濃度、GA関連遺伝子の発現量およびGAに対する感受性を調査した結果、分げつ性と内生GA濃度との間には正の相関はなかったが、GA処理による分げつ促進作用は、分げつ性の強い品種ほど強く発現した。これらの結果から、GAに対する感受性の違いがネギ品種の分げつ性を決定する重要な要素となっている可能性が考えられた。
