An R/C servo motor is a compact package of a DC geard-motor associated with a position servo controller. They are widely used in small-sized robotics and mechatronics by virtue of their compactness, easiness-to-use and high/weight ratio. However, it is crucial to clarify their internal model (including the embedded position servo) in order to improve control performance of mechatronic systems using R/C servo motors, such as biped robots or underactuted sysyems. In this paper, we propose a simple and realistic internal model of the R/C servo motors including the embedded servo controller, and estimate their physical parameters using continuous-time system identification method. We also provide a model of reference-to-torque transfer function so that we can estimate the internal torque acting on the load.

This paper is concerned with applicability of intelligent PID control which is proposed by Fliess and Join recently. First, we analyze the stability of intelligent PID control systems. It is clarified that the intelligent PID controllers stabilize any linear plants provided that they are minimum phase and their relative degrees are known. Simulation results are given to verify the analysis. Second, an experiment of positioning control is performed to verify the effectiveness of the intelligent PID control method.

This paper develops a mathematical model of a sheepdog control strategy, in order to clarify a principle for controlling autonomously (and randomly) moving multiple agents. First, by observing real behaviors of a sheepfold and a sheepdog, we extract their essential properties as a multi-agent system. Based on this, difference equations are constructed for the sheep and sheepdog. It is verified by numerical simulations that the proposed model captures their qualitative behaviors.

This paper proposes a new identification method for continuous-time SISO linear time-invariant models, which does not require the prior knowledge about the system order. First, an appropriately filtered input/output signal is projected onto a finite dimensional signal subspace. Then, based on the projected data, the system order is determined through a nuclear norm minimization which takes account of both model simplicity and output prediction accuracy. Numerical examples are given to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method.

本研究では歩行ロボットの新形態として,三足歩行ロボットとその歩行制御の一方法を提案する.そもそも奇数脚歩行は従来よりほとんど研究されてこなかったが,三足歩行においては二足歩行の機動性・軽量性と四足歩行の安定性を兼備できることが期待される.本研究では120度回転対称かつ少数のアクチュエータを有する軽量な三足機構を提案し,歩行制御問題を歩様設計と各脚制御の二段階に分離することによってアプローチする.

This paper proposes an approach for automatic controller tuning based on experimental data only. It determines the controller parameters for a given cost function without knowing the true plant dynamics via Bayesian optimization. The validity of the proposed method is tested through some numerical simulations. Then, the proposed method is applied to PID controller tuning for an actual motor positioning system. The experimental results show that the proposed method improves the control performance effectively.

This paper presents a robust control law which achieves model following with prescribed accuracy for a class of nonlinear systems which contain bounded unknown disturbances and uncertain nonlinear terms. Our method consists of nonlinear compensation and linear compensation. The former ensures robustness for the plant, the latter achieves both desired model following response and desired initial error convergence. The distinguish feature of our method is that admissible control error bound, smoothness of input, reference model (or desired command response), and initial error response can be specified independently, and that the controller is designed based on the information of the “bounds” of uncertainty terms.
