This study aims to raise the employment rate for people with disabilities. It quantifies the monetary value of improvement effect, introduces universal design to existing buildings, and provides basic data for facility management planning. Twelve buildings owned by Company T have been investigated to evaluate universal design by applying the Comprehensive Assessment Systems of Universal Design Achievements (CASUDA) method developed by Sawada et al.

The value of the wooden house in Korea is reviewed, and needs have risen through building and preservation in Korea. And the imported wooden house is changing to Korean-style. This reports aims to investigate the current state of the wooden construction in Korea that has not been known in Japan yet, to grasp the problem concerning the wooden house in Korea, and to present the clue of the spread strategy of the wooden house to be able to deal with the problem.

In this paper, Virtual Reality System for Streetscape and Street space evaluation using the Virtual Reality system is presented. Firstly, studies on VR System using scale models, CAD models, and VR system with both scale models and CAD models in literatures are investigated. Secondly, light and small VR system using the combination of HMD and 3 axes gyro sensor, which provides view stereoscopic environments and enable us to view all direction of Streetscape, is presented. Thirdly the adaptability of this system for the Streetscape and space evaluation is investigated through two experiments. The sense of Height, Volume, Amenity, Depth, and Activeness of different stand points and those by different streets which have different width are investigated and several features of sense of Street space are clarified by the VR system.

Augmented Reality or Mixed Reality is a technology to extend or enhance human senses by putting the CG which is processed by computer into the real world.The authors developed a tool for architectural design, using AR/MR and scale model. This tool enables the review by superimposing CG on the model. In addition, the authors proposed the solution of the problem of occlusion and optical integrity.In this paper, the authors report implementation details and preliminary experimental results of this tool.

This study is focused on creative group works. Based on the detailed observations and recordings, we want to find the relations between working activities, results and satisfaction of workers. We put the camera array system on the ceiling of the workspace and took plan-like images of working activities at regular intervals and measured the movement of bodies and tools. This paper also reports on the method to visualize the movement of workers and tools based on the measured data.

Some of "Nagaya", the Japanese traditional townhouses, have survivied over a century, by undergoing several renovations. But the way of renovation is very temporary and gradual. Why the Nagaya survived in spite of the weak way of renovation? The purpose of this study is to find a reason of their long surviving with their weak renovational technologies.

The purpose of this research is to classify the contents of "The E. T. Blacket Plans" which are kept in the archives of the State Library of NSW (Mitchell Library). The Total 4745 sheets of original materials include not only drawings of Edmund Blacket but those of his sons' office, sketches and letters. 1963 sheets of total materials became an object of this research. I made through investigation of seal and stamp of each drawings, and checked the characteristics of title logo. The following facts were found out as that result; 1. Six architects offices of Blackets have 12 types of seals. 2. 235 sheets of total 1963 drawings were stamped with the seal of Edmund Blacket's office, and 366 sheets were stamped with the seal of his sons' offices. 3. The project which Edmund Blacket dealt with to the end are only 22 of total 114 projects.

This paper discusses the characteristics of the wind damage to residential houses caused by Typhoon 9119 in Akita and Aomori Prefectures, based on the results of a damage investigation. It is found that the damage strongly depends on the framework and construction method of roofs. Furthermore, the results of a multivariate regression analysis indicate that the damage ratio for an area is related to the local topography as well as to the number of households in the area.

In order to apply recycled aggregate concrete produced by the aggregate replacing method to a real structure, the quality control method was investigated, and this paper describes various qualities of the recycled coarse aggregate and recycled aggregate concrete produced by the actual plant. Specifically, the control method of an alkali-silica-reaction and chloride content for recycled coarse aggregate, and the control method of a length change and neutralization for recycled aggregate concrete were considered. Results confirmed that the demand quality of recycled aggregate concrete could be maintained according to the part to be used by the shown quality control method.

This paper describes about vertical transportation of building materials using high-speed temporary elevator for highrise office building construction. Surveying and analysing of the past constructions, a new method to estimate the times of vertical transportation for building construction was proposed. Applying this method to some current constructions, it is confirmed that this method is available for practical use.

This paper describes development of the new hybrid aerodynamic vibration system and verification of the developed system for simulating aerodynamic vibration of structures. Simulation of aerodynamic vibration of a square prism in 3-dimensional flow is conducted. Unsteady aerodynamic force can be estimated in this simulation. From the results, the accuracy of developed system is satisfied and the hybrid aerodynamic vibration technique suggested some possibility to analyze aerodynamic vibration of structures from other angle.

The field observation shows that the leaf surface of the vegetation top iscooled to the lowest temperature in the vegetation by the sky radiation, while the air temperature inside the vegetation stays warmer during the clear night. The leaf surface of the vegetation top is refrigerated by the sky radiation, then the air next to the vegetation top is got cooled by the sensible heat exchange from the air to the leaf surfaces. Because of the observation errors on the leaf surface temperature, the calculated results have not completely agreed with the field experiments. The calculation results shows that the atmospheric air is easily got cooled if the leaf area index is large in the tall tree crowns.

A new method is proposed to evaluate the schemes of mass concrete practices by counting the cracking index in the structure. The new method bases upon the CP-Method prepared by "the JCI Committee on the Thermal Stress of Mass Concrete". The new method intends to get an abridged index of the planning schemes about the present mass concrete practices on site without any complicated calculations. Some examples showed fairly good coincidence with the exact computed results.

In the design and construction of a long beam, considerable attention should be paid to its deflection. This paper discusses a method that minimize the beam deflection by successfully utilizing the composite effect of steel beam and concrete slab. The camber of the beam to cancel its deflection can be reduced, if the beam is temporarily supported at several points until the achievement of composite effect. The error of the camber can be moreover adjusted by pushing up the supports. Also presented is a practical application of the method to the long span crossed beam in a highrize office building.

In soil-structure interaction problem, dynamic impedance function and foundation input motion (FIM) is fundamental physical properties. We carried out an axisymmetric finite element method (AX-FEM) analysis to verify the accuracy of FIM between "Response and Limit Strength Calculation (RLSC)" and AX-FEM. The acceleration response spectrum (ARS) obtained by RLSC almost envelops those obtained by AX-FEM in the range of the whole periods. Therefore, it can be said that the evaluation of the embedding effect in RLSC is conservative, particularly in a short period range. Also, it is observed that the spectrum at the foundation bed of the free field computed by SHAKE is similar to FIM, but the former response is underestimated in specific period ranges. Furthermore, it is shown that presentation of the numerical tables of transfer function of FIM is useful in practical design through comparison ARS of multi-layered soil model with that of equivalent two-layered soil model by RLSC.

This Paper reports Honeycomb structure made of aluminum alloy in "Brugge 2002 Pavilion". Honeycomb and Sandwitched-panel have completely different strength and rigidity each other. The layout of these structural elements defines the stress diagrams in the both of structure and expression of the architectural patterns. The transparency of honeycomb, directed by the diagrams, makes the space and the structure of the pavilion abstractive. The synthesis of architectural expression and structural system harmonizes the Pavilion to the town with the medieval atmosphere. The work inherits "Realization of new spatial expression by abstracted structure" in "K residence at Sakura Jousui".

The Holly Resurrection Cathedral (Nikorai do), a designated important cultural property, is over 100 years old. Repairs and restorative construction were made following the Great Kanto Earthquake of 1923 but 70 years have passed with no further extensive maintenance. After surveying the weathering of Cathedral, repair work to preserve the cultural property is under way. Results of physical investigation and chemical analysis of nine 70 to 100 year old mortar samples to determine mix proportion, material composition and condition of deterioration are presented in this report.
